Big news in beauty

  • Mecca is set to open the biggest beauty retailer in the Southern Hemisphere (three levels and 1200 square metres to be exact), opening up shop in the historic Gowings building in Sydney’s CBD. Billed as a soon-to-be ‘beauty wonderland’, the store will house not only an extensive product range, but also dedicated skin, hair and body treatment areas and a sensory parfumerie. Bougie, and we like it.
  • She’s already got ‘star of You, Pretty Little Liars and our makeup dreams’ on her CV, but Shay Mitchell has just announced another exciting gig, this time as the ambassador for Cacharel’s Yes I Am fragrance collection. “To me Cacharel has always been about freedom, independence, empowerment and I truly feel like they captivated the entire essence of the brand with this collection” Shay said of the partnership.
  • As the only Kar-Jenner sister yet to release a collection with Kylie Cosmetics, Kendall Jenner’s announcement about a collab with sister Kylie is big. Kendall confirmed the collaboration on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she hinted she may have even been wearing products from the drop within the interview. Zoom in and sleuth accordingly.
  • INIKA Organic hit NYFW to create clean makeup looks for both Jonathan Cohen and Chocheng’s runway shows. Both shows featuring the brand’s makeup artistry were completely free from fur and feathers, in line with INIKA’’s own 100 per cent natural ethos.
  • Selena Gomez has announced the launch of her very own beauty brand, Rare Beauty – major. Selena shared her vision for the line via Instagram Live: “It’s not just a brand, it’s going to be a lifestyle. I want girls and boys and men and women to feel comfortable. We are not meant to look like everybody else, we’re meant to look like ourselves.” Stay tuned – Rare Beauty is set to land in 2021.
  • Ever felt isolated by the makeup industry or like the products and tips stemming from brands and experts don’t work for you? RAGEISM Beauty is here to help. The brand is hosting Makeup For Me, a makeup workshop for women over 40 and beyond. The class will cover everything from creating a flawless base to simple everyday makeup and the perfect look for a night out. Pick up your tickets here for $40 – the cost is redeemable on product (and attendees get 20% off all Rageism products on the day), so it’s an absolute win win.

If you love highlighter, we’ll bet you’ll really love Becca. The brand’s goal is to make you glow in all the right places, and their radiance-boosting range certainly delivers in the luminosity arena. Their Lift Shifter Brightening Concealer is a serious standout – it hydrates, brightens and blurs, delivering both coverage and glow in one step.

Rageism Beauty

After growing tired of the lack of representation and makeup products designed for women over the age of 40, Paula Nagel and Katherine Baulderstone created Rageism Beauty as the confidence-boosting brand they could look to for options. The brand’s All Day Foundation is amazing, packed with hydrating ingredients to avoid drying into fine lines and leave skin looking dewy and lifted.

  1. I have used John Frieda shampoo for a long time and changed recently to another brand. My hair is just not the same and is so oily. Perhaps now is the time to try Beauty and Planet??

  2. I'm looking forward to trying the Rageism oil from the discovery bag, their products definitely interest me, and I've been hearing a lot of good things about Becca lately.

  3. I'm guessing that Paula Nagel is the same Paula that had the company PS Paula's Secrets about two years ago. Rageism's foundation and primer look similar to the products from the PS Paula's Secrets range (someone will correct me if I'm wrong).

I know that lots of members will appreciate having BECCA listed on BH. I've tried one of their blushes and it was lovely.

  4. I'd love to try Rageism Beauty All Day Foundation, and any other products from their range.

I love the Love Beauty & Planet shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion in the rose fragrance.

I'd like to try Provoke Touch of Silver Leave-In Conditioner Spray if it's suitable for blondes. I'll check it out in store.

  5. I am really curious about the Lellure oil. I’d particularly like to try the pink one, but the white one sounds lovely too. I just wish you could buy it in a shop, where you could test it.

  6. I will be trying the Eimele but not sure which meal to give up, breakfast or my lunch/dinner as I only try to eat twice a day now. I do really need my breakfast though.

  7. So much to take in, I haven't tried Becca and don't own any Lady Jane brushes or any brushes in fact. The products all look great. I think if I had free range in Mecca I would need a trailer to take home all that my heart desires.

  8. I really like the John Frieda, tried the love beauty and planet which is very nice, but it did leave my hair feeling more oily after a few uses so back to my John Frieda.
