Beauty hacks are important for a myriad of reasons. My life motto has always been to work smart, not hard. The same applies to my skin care routine. I want perfect skin but I don’t want to spend hours looking in the mirror when I could be out having fun. You with me? So it’s all about making the most of the beauty products you have in your beauty cabinet.

Beauty hacks are also a great way to save some $$$ when you’re skint and sadly can’t afford to put the skin care products you need, or want, in your cart. No worries! It’s just a matter of turning to your pantry for a little extra help. As you can tell, I’m a big believer in beauty hacks. They’re super-genius and actually produce results.
Here are my fave beauty hacks I picked up in 2017…
1. When you go on holidays and you forget to take your makeup remover, just use your eye cream or facial moisturiser. They act as an emollient and help to dissolve eye makeup. They’re also great for removing lip stains and brightly coloured lippie.

2. Sheet masks are loaded with all kinds of serums, essences and hydrating goodies, making them the ultimate all-over body hydrator. So it you’re feeling lazy and don’t want to apply body moisturiser, just rub a sheet mask all over your body for an instant moisture hit.

3. Essences are at the heart of so many Asian skin care routines including Korean and Japanese regimes. They pack a punch when it comes to hydration and anti-ageing benefits. So why not make the most of your essence and use it all day long. Transfer some of your essence into a spray bottle, and use it to mist your skin throughout the day, even if you’ve got makeup.

4. Don’t have a sheet mask or a regular mask on hand? No worries! Crush up some natural ingredients like cucumber and soak a cotton pad in the juices. Place it on the skin that needs treating and leave it on for a couple of minutes.
5. Keep a jar of coconut oil handy in case you run out of your regular cleanser and can’t get to the shops. Scoop out a tablespoon amount of coconut oil and warm it up between your fingers. Then massage it all over your face. Once you’re done, use a cotton pad to remove any excess oil. Not only will it remove all your makeup and any environmental dirt buildup, it will leave your skin feeling hydrated.
6. I love this exfoliating hack. It’s an easy way to ensure your lips are smooth and ready for lipstick application. Combine a teaspoon of sugar with a teaspoon of Vaseline and rub all of your lips.
7. When you get a new piercing, avoid alcohol to keep it clean, as it can be too drying on your skin. Instead, wash it with a saline solution and oil-based soaps that can help to soften the tissue that’s healing.
