Well, apparently not. Make-up artist to the stars (including Queen Bey) Sir John Barnett recently told The Coveteur that instead of using make-up to contour, he suggests using some strategically placed sunscreen to ‘naturally’ lighten and darken certain parts of the face.
He tells The Coveteur about his two-step process:
1. Apply SPF 50 or 60 around the eyes, lips and down the centre of the nose.
2. Apply SPF 15 or 20 everywhere else on your face.
Here at bh HQ we’re worried this kind of deliberate tanning could be a recipe for premature ageing. Personally, I’d rather pick up the new M.A.C contouring palette, am I right?
What do you guys think? Would you try this way of contouring or is a higher level of sun protection too important?
I can imagine this is a cool and effective way to contour the face – I love that it doesn’t just wash off BUT – and a big butt by the way – it exposes parts of the face to ageing rays more than others and that could be very weird in the long term (not to mention dangerous when it comes to skin cancers – yeeks!)
oh it’s a guy!?! lol interesting!
lol a beautician come cosmetician likely! Sheeeesh isn’t this just chronic!? No wonder it hasn’t taken off – people are way smarter than that.
lol, even on Tuesday (which it is here where I am today)! How crazzzzy is this!? Could work great on a Barbie doll that has sun-sensitive plastic skin that never gets cancer but not us humans!
Yess! That is what we all feel I’m sure! Would be weird for me to do it because I’d just get pigmented skin where the sunscreen was skipped probably! don’t worry, I won’t be trying it.
Yup – it’s probably something that would have ‘taken off’ like a rocket in the 70’s if the baby boomers could have gotten hold of sunscreen at all (which they couldn’t because they were too busy blistering their skin up instead of inventing ways to protect it aka sunscreen! lol No not really, they are not laughing now. This is not a pay out on the individual baby boomers by the way but just in general a pay out of that era – don’t worry I was there too – as a kid tho.
Well that is a much safer idea – and it doesn’t wash off straight away either! Cool. I do tend to apply fake tan sometimes strategically on my body – lots on my tummy and feet!
