It’s a funny thing, brand loyalty. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that I bet you have a particular beauty product that you believe is the Holy Grail in its category. No matter how many new variations may hit the market, I bet you swear that you’ll use that same product (and tout it’s brilliance to anyone who’ll listen) until the day you die. Or the product is discontinued – in which case you’ll feel like you’ve just lost a best friend (as was the case when Rimmel discontinued one of my all-time fave bronzing creams. Devastation is not even the word).
And despite the fact that there are a million and one beauty brands on the market and it’s easy to be fickle, you probably even have a brand (or three) that you totally love to bits and can’t see yourself ever living without.
Which got me thinking, what makes you swear by a brand? Are you loyal to its products because you’ve tried and tested a million others and that particular brand is far better than the rest? Or are you buying into the brand’s values, the messages they represent, which makes you want to purchase its products?
If you’re a brand snob (like I used to be before working in beauty!) would you change your mind about certain supermarket beauty brands if you knew that they were being manufactured by the exact same company that formulates some of the best-known prestige brands? Likewise, what are your thoughts on ‘supermarket own’ beauty brands? Would you give them a go, or do you prefer to stick to the beauty brands you know and love?
A lot of questions I know, but I’m interested to hear your thoughts, so go on – share them with us!
Which beauty brands are you loyal to and what makes you loyal to those brands?
