The bath routine to suit you

At beautyheaven, we love a good bubble bath, but unfortunately for many of us, they’re often a special occasion only treat. Setting aside time is half the effort.

To ensure you’re making the most of your precious bath time, we’ve come up with a routine to suit different specific needs:

1) I want to feel energised

Most of us associate baths with relaxation, but they can also be a great way to boost your energy levels. For this type of bath, spend a few minutes dry body brushing while you’re waiting for the tub to fill. This will help stimulate blood flow and wake you up. Then, for an invigorating soak, opt for a body wash that contains energising essential oils. Natural Instinct Energising Body Wash is a good one to try, leaving you feeling fresh and ready to take on the day.

2) My skin needs extra nourishment

For dry winter skin, a soothing bath is a great idea as it allows time for nourishing products to soak in. Keep it to a luke-warm temperature, as hot water can worsen the problem. Then, before you get in, add a moisturising bath product such as The Body Shop Honeymania Bubble Bath Melt, which contains skin-softening fair trade honey. Once you’re finished, pat your body gently with a towel to preserve the hydrating effect.

3) I need to de-stress

Next time you’re feeling stressed and anxious, consider a calming bath to help you unwind. Perfect for this sort of soak, AVEDA Stress-Fix Soaking Salts have an aroma clinically proven to relieve feelings of stress. Doing a mini-meditation or listening to some relaxing music while in the tub can also help to quieten your mind. To finish off the experience, consider drinking some soothing chamomile tea for the ultimate stress-reducing routine.

4) I have sore/achy muscles

Feeling a bit stiff or sore? A restorative bath could be just what you need to soothe your muscles and joints. To help ease rheumatic aches, a deep-heat remedy such as Elemis Aching Muscle Super Soak, which contains mineral-rich sea salt, can be very effective. Got a bit of time? You may also like to give yourself a light massage in the tub to enhance the effects.

5) I’m ready to go to bed

After a long day, a relaxing bath may be just what you need to sooth your senses and prepare you for bed. This is not the time to be washing your hair or shaving your legs. Instead, turn off the lights, light a candle and add just a few drops of essential oil to the water. We recommend Aromatherapy Associates Relax Deep Bath and Shower Oil, which contains a therapeutic blend of sandalwood, vetiver and chamomile to help calm your mind and encourage a peaceful sleep.
