We here at beautyheaven HQ like to maintain a positive and open mindset to all sorts of cosmetic treatments and enhancements. We especially love hearing when celebrities choose to be open and honest about their cosmetic enhancements; we rate transparency and want to know all the details before we hop under the needle!
There is however one Aussie-born celeb that doesn’t hold that same sentiment: our very own Cate Blanchett. While we can understand that Cate wants everyone to be comfortable and happy in the skin (and age accordingly), she has hit out with some strong comments on the topic.
Cate Blanchett Cosmetic Surgery
With the pressure to stay young and ‘beautiful’ in Hollywood ever knocking at the stars’ doors, there’s no wonder why so many of the celebs turn to the top surgeons for a few ‘tweakments’. Cate, however, wants to embrace the journey of looking older, feeling that the lines and wrinkles tell a story as we age. Maybe it’s because she has a fear of how she’d look, maybe it’s because she thinks she can ‘see’ the treatments before the person. Either way, Cate took to Fashionista (over ten years ago, it’s interesting to note, as tweakments have only grown in popularity since) to spill her thoughts on cosmetic enhancements.
And those thoughts were dire, with the star all but slamming those who choose to get work done. “It doesn’t fill me with admiration, it fills me with pity,” she shared. Yep, it’s pretty brutal. We’ll give her this though: the cosmetic surgery that was coming out of the early 2000s was vastly different to the not-so-invasive (and more subtle) work you can have done now.
Cate Blanchett Skin Care
Well, now we know the star’s (intense) standing on Botox, how does she keep her porcelain skin so fresh, hydrated and glowy?
Cate was once the ambassador for high-end skin care brand SK-II, so a lot of her hydrating skin care product picks came from that range, with a specific face mask shout out. Having grown up in Australia, Cate knows the importance of applying an SPF every. single. Day, and has recently been seeing the benefits of incorporating supplements into her daily routine.
So, while we might not be turning to Cate to chat about our latest filler top-up, she definitely still offers a wealth of skin-loving skin care products.

Would you get cosmetic enhancements? Does Cate’s opinion differ from yours, or are you aligned?
Haven’t had anything done… yet! I do think about it though.
I was watching Thank God He Met Lizzie the other night and considering Cate was in that film in 1997, she has hardly aged at all. She looks wonderful.
Good then she has access to a great brand all the time
I wouldn’t consider it, at least not now
I have no plans to get any work done, I’m keen to age gracefully
Think I would be a bit frightened to have most of these treatments because they can’t easily be undone. Definitely not for me.
She’s completely right. I think interventions are obvious and not subtle, and rarely enhance the wearer. I hope for a time when people are not clamoring to look like everyone else and are happy with themselves, just as they are. As for actors, facial expressions are an important element in the toolbox, and faces these days are just not fit for purpose. There is nothing wrong with being your age, whatever it is. It’s time for a revolution!
Whatever she is doing and even not doing is right.
Totally Cate is lovely.
Some celebs age well & we don’t know whether they’ve had surgery, fillers, pricey products or just have good genes. But there are some celebs who look weird, so I see Cate’s side.
Some people get addicted to treatments .
I would love to have a face and neck lift but the cost so it wont happen.
I totally agree with her, not for me either
I don’t need one.
I think it would be lovely if everyone had the confidence to avoid cosmetic surgery. I can understand why some want it though.
Some people age well and some don’t so this is a personal decision.
I’m aligned with her views, but I think she is being a bit harsh in her choice of words.
Each to their own, but I’d never have anything done.
I could see myself getting them in the future but not right now
I have been thinking about it, but too nervous about how i will look
SKII is a great brand, pity its so expensive.
I completely agree with her! No one needs those enhancements, and they just don’t look good on anyone (sorry to those that have them done). I think women have been largely hoodwinked in to believing that they’re the only way to retain ‘youth’. It doesn’t make anyone look young, it only makes people look strange. The beauty industry has many methods to help women feel bad about themselves, and to part you from your hard earned dollar. I love how the article tries to make it all about the ‘bad’ techniques of yesteryear, instead of a conscious, informed choice not to partake at all.
