If you’re anything like me, you deal with a few beauty pet peeves on a daily basis. Think pesky imperfections, runny mascara and sheets that are a dead giveaway of Thursday night’s tanning sesh.
Well, I did a little research, and I’m pleased to present these solutions to (what I think are) the most irritating beauty problems…
PROBLEM: MY MASCARA ENDS UP ON MY EYELIDS!
SOLUTION: It’s time to prime, young lady! Your eyelids produce oil naturally, meaning mascara can break down when it comes into contact with skin. Stock up on an eyeshadow primer like the Mirenesse Sexy Secret Eye Primer or e.l.f Australia Mineral Eye Shadow Primer to keep your ‘lids matte all day long.
Messy mascara could also be the result of applying too much, too fast. Slow down, and keep some cotton pads and eye make-up remover on hand to dab up mistakes.
PROBLEM: MY HAIR ELASTIC ALWAYS RIPS MY HAIR OUT!
SOLUTION: Ever torn your hair elastic out without thinking, only to be rewarded with a pinch of pain? Not ideal! Get breakage under control by ditching those elastics with metal clasps for Lady Jayne Elastics – Snagless. They’re extra gentle, so there’s less chance of your locks getting tangled or stuck. Oh, and go easy when taking out your hair tie – try unwinding it rather than pulling it out in one go!
PROBLEM: I GET WHITE STICKY FILM ON MY LIPS!
SOLUTION: We’ve all been there – you register that your lips feel dry and flaky, but on your next trip to the bathroom, you notice a yucky white film has built up in the corners of your mouth. Ick! To deal with it, stat, rinse it off and gently exfoliate your lips using an old, soft toothbrush. Afterwards, pat your lips dry and treat them to a super hydrating lip balm like the Bonne Bell Therapy Lip Gel SPF 30+ or Nature’s Care Paw Paw Lip Balm. Also, stay hydrated to stop your lips and mouth from getting so parched.
PROBLEM: I HAVE BROWN PATCHES ON MY SKIN!
SOLUTION: These brown patches may be dark spots or melasma, which are usually the result of hormonal changes and exposure to the sun’s UV rays. The first step is to prevent them from developing further by wearing SPF every day. Yes, every day! My pick is the Paula’s Choice Resist Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defence SPF 15 as it’s ridiculously lightweight and leaves skin feeling hydrated for hours. Then, amp up your skin care routine by including a serum that targets dark spots. Our members love the NeoStrata Enlighten Pigment Controller for diminishing dark spots and the Clinique Even Better Concealer for reducing their appearance and dealing with hyperpigmentation over time.
PROBLEM: FAKE TAN STAINS MY BED SHEETS!
SOLUTION: Fine to hit the hay feeling sticky if it means you wake up with a bronzed glow, but not so keen on staining your sheets? Oh, I feel you. Get your mitts on a fast at-home tanner, like the St. Tropez Self Tan Express or pureTan Pure Bronze Rapid Tan 1 Hour Tanning Lotion. These golden wonders can be washed off after just one hour, so you can rest easy knowing you won’t be dealing with patchy sheets in the AM. Genius!
Can you relate to any of these annoying beauty problems? Do you have any others to add to the list?
