At bh, we talk an awful lot about what you should do on a ‘bad skin day’. You know, when you wake up with a mammoth pimple pulsating in the middle of your forehead.
But what about the days when your skin is looking flawless? For many of us (myself included), they’re few and far between – which means we need to make the most of them!
Here are six things you should do on a ‘good skin day’ (because you simply must show it off)…
1. Book a haircut
A good skin day is the optimum time for a haircut. Why? Well, we all know there’s nothing worse than sitting in front of a mirror for two hours when you have bags under your eyes, rampant redness, or angry acne. Hit the hairdresser when your complexion is #nextlevel and you won’t ever want to leave!
2. Go clothes shopping
Clothes shopping is so much more gratifying when your complexion looks killer. Your bright, dewy skin will make your new threads look très chic – and you can also get away with wearing less make-up (which is a massive plus when trying on anything white)!
3. Line up a date
If you’re single and ready to mingle, a good skin day is the perfect time to line up a last minute date. Of course, if he’s actually worthy of your attention, it won’t matter one bit to him if your skin’s less than perfect – but looking (and feeling!) #flawless will give you an extra bit of confidence going in!
4. Rock a bold lip
You know how make-up artists always say to avoid wearing a red lip if your skin isn’t stellar? This is because the bold hue brings out blemishes, redness, and inflammation – but for once you don’t have any, so today’s your day! Dust off your boldest red lippy and apply it with wild abandon (okay not really, but you know, just own it). Try asap pure mineral lip colour in ‘six (blue based red)’ or Lush Confident Liquid Lipstick in ‘Marsala’.
5. Embrace some extra highlight
Highlighting products are best reserved for good skin days, as they tend to – you guessed it – highlight those pesky skin problems such as roughness and blind pimples. Take your smooth cheekbones to new heights with a sweep of shimmery powder such as Bobbi Brown The Bobbi Glow Collection – Highlighting Powder or M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish.
6. Keep up the good work
A good skin day is no excuse to drop the ball when it comes to your skin care regimen. In fact, this is the time to take extra steps to ensure your great skin sitch continues! You probably won’t have much redness, dullness, dark shadows or acne to worry about – so focus primarily on hydration, as well as more permanent skin problems such as pigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles. Sanctuary Spa Stop the Clock Moisturiser Night Concentrate will help maintain your skin’s moisture levels, while DMK Herbal Pigment Oil is great for promoting a more even skin tone.
