Bio-Retinol 0.5% Vitamin B3 10% Renewing Booster Serum

I am using this serum for few weeks now. The texture is really light, it has no scent and it absorbs into the skin quite quickly. I mainly use it in the evening after cleansing, in the morning my skin feels soft and smooth, it helps a bit with the fine lines and wrinkles.I have normal skin, few fine lines around my eyes already.Love to use serums especially in the summer time, they are lightweight and moisturize without feeling oily. It is beautiful to use, I bought other products from this brand in the past and they are affordable, pretty good value for money.

It's been good to see more Australian-made products take active ingredients seriously, and I was drawn to this serum because it contains 10% Niacinamide, 0.5% Bakuchiol, 0.2% Hyaluronic Acid, glycerin and is fragrance-free. Niacinamide is an ingredient that I will always have in my routine, as it has so many benefits including minimising the appearance of pores and fine lines, brightening and strengthening the skin barrier. Glycerin is a great humectant in itself, and there are additionally four molecular weights of hyaluronic acid. It did annoy me to see yet another brand call bakuchiol 'Bio-Retinol' when it has no relationship to retinol at all. Having said that, I do like bakuchiol as an ingredient - it is a great antioxidant in itself. It does not work in the same way as retinol, and it does not need to be an 'alternative' to retinol as both can be used together to boost benefits. This product comes in a handy pump in a dark glass bottle. The serum itself is thicker than water, almost like a liquid gel, and has a milky appearance. It feels hydrating upon application and absorbs quickly. I did find that sometimes my skin experiences a little bit of tinging when it is sensitized but the sensation goes away quickly. Most of the time I feel nothing. Even though the directions say to apply it in the evening, I see no reason that this can't be used in the morning as none of the ingredients cause sun-sensitivity. I usually use this before my strong retinoids in the evening as they are excellent to pair together; but when I have used it in the morning, I experienced no pilling under makeup. As I have been using these active ingredients already, I did not see any improved appearance of my skin, but it has certainly worked in terms of maintaining the condition of my skin, and certainly feels hydrating. My pores are less obvious. I would rate this higher than the Ordinary's 10% niacinamide serum, since it has additional bakuchiol and glycerin and HA, but also because I sometimes experienced pilling with the Ordinary's serum which I don't with this one. It's also often half price at Chemist Warehouse, making it inexpensive and easily available. If not for the misleading marketing name 'Bio-Retinol', I would have rated this five stars. I think brands have a responsibility to educate customers and not misleading marketing to sell products.

I've been using this as an alternative to my retinol treatment, and it works just as well. It is a water-based formula, and it comes out clear. It is light on the skin and absorbs well. The niacinamide helps keep the pimples and acne at bay, and the bio-retinol smooths out imperfections and dark spots. As it's not a retinol it can be used day and night but I choose to use it only at night and another serum as a day serum. It's also great for anti-aging. A great product overall and it's also very affordable.

I have used retinol before and my skin did not like it. I think this less potent percentage of Retinol was a better mix for my skin. The Niacinamide, bakuchiol and hyaluronic acid helped my skin become plump and looked hydrated after using this serum. It did not make me look any younger but it did make my skin look nice. I used a thick moisturiser after using this Bio Retinol Serum. The booster serum’s bottle has a pump dispenser and it made me only use a few pumps per use. I would use morning and night.

I bought this serum because niacinamide is one of the best ingredients for my combination skin, and I was looking for a serum that has a high percentage and an affordable price. Swisse Bio-retinol 0.5% Vitamin B3 10% fits the criteria with its 10% niacinamide and its often on discounted price. The serum comes in a sturdy glass bottle - I even dropped it once and it didn't break. The pump bottle is super convenient and the serum is easy to get out until the last drop. The serum is opaque, the texture is viscous but not tacky, and it's unscented. I apply three pumps on my face and neck after cleanser and toner and before moisturiser. The texture is excellent, it never pills and works with all my moisturisers and night masks. I'm on my third bottle at the moment, and my skin looks less oily and more dewy and bright with this serum. This serum absolutely deserves five stars because it gives me all the benefits of niacinamide without the tacky texture that some niacinamide serums have.
