Scents to satisfy your cravings

Scents to satisfy your cravings

If the list of notes housed in your favourite fragrance reads almost like a recipe, the chances are you’ve got a gourmand on your hands. A delectable and decadent category of the fragrance world, gourmand scents are concoctions consisting of synthetic edible scents such as honey, vanilla or butter. They’re basically your favourite foods in fragrance form, and they’re almost good enough to eat (almost – let’s stick to sniffing for now, shall we?). Whether you’re partial to a sweet or savoury treat, gourmand perfumes are great for combatting cravings – one spray can envelop your senses to the point where you may just think that you did eat that delicious delicacy despite the fact that not a single morsel has passed your lips. Want to enjoy your favourite treats completely guilt-free? Go gourmand with these almost-edible eau’s.

If you’re craving… bread

Serge Lutens Jeux De Peau EDP ($130.95, cosmeticsnow.com.au)

Carbs with no calories? A dream scenario that has now been realised, thanks to Serge Lutens – this buttery-bready drop is fresh out of a French bakery. Be wary: pastries in perfume form are still dangerously delicious, and just like it’s hard to limit yourself to just one croissant, a single spritz rule is also tricky to stick to in this scenario.

If you’re craving… cupcakes

Britney Spears Fantasy

Craving cupcakes? You’re not alone. As it turns out, Britney Spears is partial to an iced treat herself, and we have her to thank for this sweet, vanilla-y goodness (as well as endless hits, of course). With heavenly hints of kiwi and white chocolate, it’s a fragrance definitely worthy of a scent-style cheat day.

If you’re craving… popcorn

Demeter Popcorn Eau de Cologne ($29.95, loreperfumery.com.au)

No time for a trip to the movies this week? This scent is concocted to smell just like a buttery bucket of popcorn and it’ll turn every Netflix session into a cinema-level experience even if the salty snack is nowhere to be found. The standout of Demeter’s collection of single-note scents, it’ll satisfy your popcorn quota without leaving any kernels stuck in your teeth.

If you’re craving… chocolate

Vera Wang Princess Noir Eau de Toilette

If chocolate is happiness that you can eat, this Vera Wang scent is happiness that you can smell. With a blackcurrant-patchouli base, the scent is sweetened by a creamy chocolate aroma, amazing for the days when you’re craving cocoa but trying to ditch the Dairy Milk.

If you’re craving… bacon

Fargginay Bacon Gold Eau de Parfum ($52, fargginay.com)

The eau equivalent of an all-day breakfast, this drop keeps bacon with you all day long. Wacky but surprisingly wearable, it won’t leave you smelling like you’re actually hoarding rashers in your pockets – with nutmeg, pepper and a splash of citrus, Fargginay’s take on bacon is more Chuck Bass brunch than dingy diner.

If you’re craving… gelato

Zoella Gelat’eau Body Mist

Even if you’re not gallivanting around Italy this year, you can still get your gelato fix right here on Aussie shores. Sweet, light and zesty, Zoella’s take on the tasty treat is positively mouth-watering with a blend of playful pomegranate and decadent double cream.  If it were real gelato, we’d grab a spoon stat, but in this case, we’ll settle for a spritz.

  1. HAve heard that for the price and looks, britney perfumes are quite popular and lasting and smell good. Want to try the dark blue one. HAve one that smells gourmand: black opium and its new flanker (sweet vanilla and coffee, flanker also absinth)
