Having sensitive skin as an adult is one thing. Having a baby who also experiences the same kind of skin woes is a whole other heartbreaker.
And while many parents’ first port of call would be to look at baby-specific products, La Roche-Posay has ranges (specifically Lipikar and Cicaplast) that are suitable for babies’ sensitive skin as well as the whole family.
Recommended by dermatologists, these minimalist, fragrance-free products serve up a hydrating and soothing routine with high efficacy on very dry and sensitive skin, and are also suitable for use on those who are mildly eczema-prone.
Of course, the proof is in the product testing and who better to put this regimen through its paces than three mums and their mini-mes.
Here’s what they thought after using the La Roche-Posay Lipikar Syndet AP+ Cream Wash, La Roche-Posay Lipikar Baume AP+ M Body Balm and La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Baume Multi-Purpose Balm.
Alyce and Lilah (6 months old)
What do you look for when shopping for products for you and your family?
“I look for a reputable brand (maybe something that has been recommended if I’m trying something new) hypoallergenic and low scent, especially if it’s for Lilah. I also look for products that are well priced and if not, I will wait for them to go on sale.”
What are your main concerns with yours and your baby’s skin?
“Lilah has quite sensitive skin so we try to use products that don’t have a strong smell and are gentle on her skin. [My own concerns] are dryness and ageing.”
How did you find the La Roche-Posay products?
“I love [La Roche-Posay] and have used a few of their other products already. I have loved using these products as they were super gentle on our skin and didn’t have a strong scent.”
“The body wash lathered really well and you didn’t need much of the product. Our bodies always felt hydrated after the bath/shower.”
“The moisturiser was rich and creamy but rubbed in well. [The balm was] slightly tacky in the humidity but that didn’t bother us and [we] still felt moisturised 12 hours later.”
“[Overall our] skin was hydrated and felt soft. No outbreaks either, so very happy.”
“[What I love most was] that both Lilah and I could use the same products. I have already recommended them to my sisters-in-law (as we all have kids) and also my mothers’ group.”
Simone and Billie (15 months old)
What do you look for when shopping for products for you and your family?
“I look for brands I trust to look after my family. Products that are gentle on our skin and won’t irritate their eyes.”
What are your main concerns with yours and your baby’s skin?
“[Billie] has sensitive skin and dry skin in certain areas as she’s getting older. And as I’m getting older, I notice my skin is drier too.”
How did you find the La Roche-Posay products?
“The products were fantastic for her sensitive skin. In the shower [the wash] didn’t irritate her; she wanted to squeeze more out to play with it!”
“The lotion was smooth and quick drying which is important with a wriggly baby. Her skin was less red too and she was less irritable.”
“I love that it’s fragrance free and suitable for all skin, even the most sensitive — which both my girls have — and that it doesn’t sting their eyes.”
“I would definitely recommend these products to mums and new parents as the product you need to buy for your whole family.”
“It’s soothing, hydrating and great for sensitive skin. It takes one worry out of the million others you have as a parent!”
Asa and Baker (2.5 years old)
What do you look for when shopping for products for you and your family?
“I look for ingredients, price and the use of any excess fragrances that could potentially irritate.”
What are your main concerns with yours and your baby’s skin?
“For Baker, it’s maintaining moisture levels and keeping his skin soft and supple. For myself, it’s sensitivity and dryness.”
“I had eczema as a child, so I’m mindful of using products that could be too harsh on my skin.”
How did you find the La Roche-Posay products?
”The products felt high quality, protective and had a great consistency. I liked that they also featured great ingredients that nourished and protected my skin.”
“Both the wash and the moisturiser comforted any irritation I had from dryness and they left mine (and Baker’s!) skin feeling soft and smooth. I loved that they were fragrance free and recommended by dermatologists.”
“I would recommend these products to all families. They are gentle yet effective for anyone looking to keep their skin soft and moisturised.”
Have you tried any La Roche-Posay products? What do you look out for when shopping for products for the whole family?
