Now it’s hardly characteristic for us to wish the long, balmy days of summer away, but Bh can think of at least four gorgeously wearable reasons to fast-track directly to the cooler months. Like now.
Unconvinced? Then check out just a few of the beauty details we’ve spied upon New York Fashion Week’s Fall 2008 runways so far…
What: Electric lashes
Where: Threeasfour, February 2
How: Simple sophistication accentuated by pops of punchy colour. This was the edict issued to the backstage beauty directors of a show featuring filmy frocks, lots of metallic sheen and curvy ruffles. The pop: long cobalt lashes that flashed like lapis lazuli with each wink. Hot. We also loved the backwards-braiding that fell either side of the models’ faces.
What: Plummy pouts
Where: Ruffian, February 2
How: Think good girl going a little bad. Cropped blazers, luxe tweed coats, Oxford shirts and ties worn with satin stovepipes, heavy buckles and edgy attitude suggested an uptown prep school discovering punk (on trust fund dollars). The say-it-all accessory: rich, luxurious lipstick in an almost violent violet magenta.
What: Once bitten, twice shy
Where: Carolina Herrera, February 4
How: In the spirit of the English hunt, jaunty felt hats, tweed prints, chunky knits and equestrian britches stalked the catwalk for Carolina Herrera. Snore. We’d give it all a miss, save the pretty lips that looked bitten by the bitter cold and stained by blackberries.
What: Sunny spots
Where: Luca Luca, February 4
How: Matte yellow shadow mingled with cool brown to put a fresh, stylish spin on smoky at Luca Luca. We especially love how the bright streak along the lower rim pushes the eye wide open despite the dark shadow. Like the sun bursting through a cloud.
And, finally, for the clever girls who, on Australia Day, insisted that lids of green and yellow gold could indeed look chic, this snapshot from the Malandrino show is especially for you. Consider it my hat. Well and truly doffed…

Green and gold is nice, I have those shades, I just blend them a little more so its more subtle
