Fashion Week’s weirdest beauty looks

Fashion Week’s weirdest beauty looks

I absolutely adore Fashion Week. However, said affection has absolutely nothing to do with the clothes. Zip. Zilch. Nada. It is the hair that I love. And the make-up. Why? Well, the looks that hit the catwalk during this time actually dictate the trends you and I will be wearing during the season ahead. True story. New York is now done and dusted for another six months. And the next stop on the autumn/winter 2013 Fashion Week train? London, followed by Milan and Paris. And while we at bh HQ will bring you a collection of dazzling hair and make-up looks you’ll actually find yourself wanting to copy, today is not about the gleaming skin. Or the brilliant brows. Or the glossy pouts. It’s about the frightful and the weird looks; the looks that are wonderfully entertaining to look at, but not exactly wearable. So, put those pens and notepads away for the moment, because this is not an inspirational beauty gallery. But that was never the intention. From Moschino Cheap and Chic’s black glossy lips and Vivienne Westwood Red Label’s white eyebrows, to Jeremy Scott‘s Harry Potter-esque lighting strikes and KTZ’s 50 Shades of Grey-inspired masks, these are the most outlandish hair and make-up looks to take to the A/W ’13 Fashion Week runway so far… Are you interested in Fashion Week? What do you find more interesting: hair or make-up? And which beauty look from the autumn/winter 2013 runways do you find most shocking?

John Rocha

This look could possibly be considered inspiring if you’re heading to funeral, but we’re thinking this oddly ghoulish headgear and sullen eye make-up isn’t exactly flattering.

Jeremy Scott

It appears Mr Scott may be a fan of Harry Potter by the looks of this lightening bolt eye make-up. Zany eyes and punk-tastic hair aside, though, that glossy mauve pout is outstanding. Do copy it, won’t you?

KTZ

Looking rather dominatrix here, we’re actually a little concerned about this model’s ability to see while wearing this rather evil-looking mask. Props for the smooth blow-dry and perfect nude lips, though.

Vivienne Westwood Red Label

There’s something fun about the white outlining of the brows and lips in the make-up look, but it is a little zany. And also makes us think she’s got a little milk on her upper lip. Not cool.

Julien Macdonald

Has this model been caught in the rain? Has she been running through a swamp before taking to the catwalk? Either way this greasy, grungy, hair-in-the-face ‘do is not for us.

Thom Browne

OK, so we love a bold red lip. And we love a rosy cheek. But it’s the over-powered white face and teased bird’s nest-like hair that’s got us a little concerned. And let’s not even talk about the wicker wreath…

Moschino Cheap and Chic

Yes, the sunnies are pretty darn cool. And we love pink flushed cheeks against an alabaster skin. But the black glossy pout? Well, trick or treating is the only occasion it’ll be suitable for, really.

Jason Wu

Moody. Glum. Ghoulish. That is the exact definition of this winter look. And although we love purple eyeshadow, it’s the muted lip and the cheek contouring that leaves this lass looking a little lifeless.
