It’s no secret that Victoria Beckham is a beauty industry heavyweight. Although celebrity-owned skincare and makeup lines are available in abundance, Victoria Beckham Beauty remains in a league of its own. What’s the secret to its success? Victoria herself. As we saw with the launch of Posh Lipsticks, VB often draws her brand’s inspiration from personal memories or her own iconic style. Though Victoria has done many skin care tutorials on her Instagram, there is one how-to that we’ve been keeping an eye out for: Victoria’s signature smokey eye.
As if we’d manifested it, VB gifted Grazia with the complete 6-step guide to achieving her signature “clean, yet undone smokey eye.”
“It makes me feel instantly polished,” she said. “Like I’ve had eight hours sleep even though I typically get far less.”
Step one: Brightening pencil
To kick things off, VB uses a nude eyeliner pencil, a step which she claims is “nearly undetectable [but] pulls [the] entire look together, whether [she’s] wearing no makeup or full on glam.”
The exact pencil she reaches for is (of course) the Victoria Beckham Beauty Instant Brightening Waterline Pencil ($48, Victoria Beckham Beauty). “[I] take it along my lower waterline. It neutralises any redness and whitens my eyes,” she explained.
If you can’t get your hands on this exact pencil, we recommend: Charlotte Tilbury’s Rock ‘n’ Kohl in the shade ‘Eye Cheat’ ($37, Charlotte Tilbury).
Step two: Shadow
“I pick up my Victoria Beckham Beauty Smoky Eye Brick in ‘Signature’ ($90, Victoria Beckham Beauty). I use the lightest shade as a primer, the pink shade all over my lid and the mid-tone brown to contour my eyelids.”
To finish, “ I add a dusting along my lash line and under my lower lash line too, to achieve the smokey look,” she added.
Step three: Flick
“I take the darkest blue shade from the Victoria Beckham Beauty Smoky Eye Brick in ‘Royal’, ($90, Victoria Beckham Beauty) and I use a super angled brush to line my lashes with it and add a small flick to the outer corner of my top lash line.”
To create a similar look, we recommend using the Nude by Nature Angled Eyeliner Brush ($18.95, Nude by Nature) alongside the Natio Sapphire Coast Mineral Eyeshadow Palette ($15.37, Myer).
Step four: Liner
Next, “I go over my upper lash line with my Victoria Beckham Beauty Satin Kajal Liner in ‘Ash’ ($48, Victoria Beckham Beauty). The formula is super creamy and sometimes all I need to do is use the blender, or even my finger, to smudge it out. When it sets, it doesn’t budge.”
Step five: Mascara
To create her voluminous, wispy lashes, VB says she applies “lashings” of mascara. Our recommendation? Rimmel’s Wonder Extension Mascara ($21.95, Chemist Warehouse)
Step six: Brows
Never felt like you could relate to Victoria Beckham? That’s all about to change once you hear how she feels about her brows. “I never go without a bit of a brow, I am naked without it,” she said. “I love a full, straight brow, I think it looks quite modern.”
As for how she achieves her desired look? “I start by brushing them through to tame any strays, then I fill them in with a brow pencil and finish with a laminating gel. I love how it locks the shape in place.’
We recommend the NYX Professional Makeup Micro Brow Pencil ($.x) and Estée Lauder Stay-in-Place Brow Gel ($42, David Jones)
Have you tried a smokey eye before? Will you give Victoria’s method a go?
I love the smoky eye look with a nude lip.
I love that look too – the ’60’s look!
I’ve never felt confident doing a smokey eye.
I don’t suit smokey eyes because my eyes are hooded.
Same! I love the smokey eye look, but it wouldn’t work for my hooded eyes. I have a hard enough time trying to get eyeshadow to show up, let alone create a look.
Same here 🙁 I just end up looking like I’ve gone to be with my make-up on & woken up with Panda eyes.
I used to have trouble doing a smokey eye on my hooded eyes too but I now really blend the shadow out above my hood on the outer corner and it gives the same effect! I also find the hood hides any mistakes which I really appreciated as a beginner!!
I think her smokey eyes look great.
Yes she does have a great eye look
I will give it a try.
I like her eye makeup and killer brows
I love a good smoky eye, I can never quite get it right
It’s hard to do on your own.
I prefer clean eye look. No shadows.
she rocks it – id love to try her range
That she does! Love Victoria!
I have tried a smokey eye before and I would give Victoria’s method a go, thanks for a wonderful read.
I love the look but haven’t tried it
OMG. Love that Natio Sapphire Coast eye palette!
yeh really nice!!
Her smokey eyes look great.
I love the look but I’ve never mastered a smokey eye. I don’t even use eye shadows anymore.
I would try this out 🙂
The Smokey eye looks great on Victoria but not sure if it would suit me, i alway look like I’m sporting a black eye!
Haha! Same here!
I don’t do smokey eyes because I’m allergic to most eye makeup and I have under eye circles.
I want to try her steps now!
I liked watching Posh in the video
I cant guarantee it would look good on me but I will give it a go.
Victoria Beckham certainly has the best makeup Artist to help achieve the looks that she wants. Smokey Eyes certainly seems to suit her best.
I think this look would look ridiculous on me.
I like to do a sexy smoky eye on a night out
She looks nice but I don’t think relatable.
Would love to be able to pull off this look!
Harper has VB’s eyes.
I wish I was more competent with eye makeup – I’d love to think I could achieve this.
It looks great, I’ve had a smoky eye only professionally done.
That 2nd pic is a perfect example of why you should always wear a nude bra under a white top!
I always use a highlighting shade in my inner corners; otherwise, I look like a cartoon villain. & I’ve got to have liquid eyeliner!
I love this smoky eye, it’s not over the top
Interestiing re the white pencil in combo for the smokey eye look – makes sense though with all the dark around the eye, brightening it up a bit makes sense
I love Posh!
I’ve never felt confident doing a smokey eye.
Victoria Beckham is a beauty industry heavyweight.

Can’t say I’ve ever tried to do a smokey eye on myself but I’ve had it done by a makeup artist before.
