There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to beauty. Makeup should be used as a means to express yourself. Yet while this is true, there are a few loose guidelines we follow when determining which colour combinations or textures work best. And a person we’re always open to taking beauty advice from? Victoria Beckham, of course.
Posting her ‘very Victoria holiday’ look to Instagram, VB shared one of her golden rules of makeup application. And though it’s holiday specific, we believe this is a guide that can be called upon year-round.
Victoria Beckham’s eyeshadow and lipstick golden rule…
To put it simply: pick one statement feature. For VB, this was her eyes, which were a sparkling green to match her sequin top, courtesy of the Victoria Beckham Beauty Satin Kajal Jewel Liner ($50, Victoria Beckham Beauty).
As for her lips? Neutral, nude and natural.
Slightly over-lining her lips to create the appearance of a fuller pout, VB used the Victoria Beckham Beauty Lip Definer in the shade ‘No. 02’ ($46, Victoria Beckham Beauty) — the creamy, longwear, natural beige-hue which she “doesn’t leave the house without.”
To layer over the top, she finished with her Bitten Lip Tint in the shade ‘Amore’ ($54, Victoria Beckham Beauty). A shade that she describes as feeling “perfect for this time of year.”
How so? Well, according to VB, “when I’m going to have a little bit more of a sparkly eye, I want a more muted lip.” And vice versa.

What do you think about keeping your lips muted when you’re wearing a statement eyeshadow?
I do this. Always have.
I love a subtle makeup balance too

She so lovely and even more so once the make up goes on.

Way to go -Be yourself and be happy
love the soft matte green
Having a neutral pencil that matches your lip colour could eliminate all those pencils we all own lol
I choose either a bold eye or a bold lip – never both. I team a bold eye with a nipple pink lip as I don’t do nude shades.
Ditto!
Not overkeen on her make up look . I think try a few things out but be happy with what you think looks best on you
That’s what I normally do as well, either focus on my eye look or accentuating my lips, not both
I like it but normally just go with what I feel suits me best.

Does she look like she has had lip fillers?
Hard to tell but she doesn’t have wrinkles so I’m assuming she does get fillers and botox
You bet!!
I so go for the muted lip with a little bit of sparkle near the eyes!
I’ve always been taught bold for one or the other never both.

I don’t do eye makeup ever, so anything on lips expect nudes works for me
Thank you for providing such useful information. I’ve been having trouble coming up with many questions about this topic. I’ll stick with you! fnaf
clasic great advice
I think this is well-known advice?
Great tips.
Victoria Beckham always looks polished and glamorous love her matching shades.
I’ve been doing this for quite a while now after watching Victoria previously share her makeup ‘tricks’.
I love the Nude colour she uses
Ooh the pencils look lovely
I always prefer natural look.
Makes sense
Probably good advice, you don’t want to look too overdone.
This is not exactly new advice. It’s been around for years.
Classic rule of thumb for makeup
I like her makeup in this clip.
Not a bad idea, seems to work actually
