Some people would call it disorganised, but I like to think booking a month’s trip to Europe on three weeks’ notice is simply spontaneous. I say I’m a free spirit who believes in fate, Visa and the idea that it will all come together in the end. I also jet off tomorrow morning and still haven’t packed a thing. Seriously, I haven’t even collected my suitcases from storage.
Clothes aren’t really a problem – sundresses and slides should cover a Continental spring and I plan to shop myself senseless – however I had begun to worry about the beauty bit. A 25kg luggage limit? I’ve got mascaras heavier than that. And what exactly am I allowed to carry in-cabin these days?
But guess what landed on my desk this morning? Just the travel-friendly essentials I need! Napoleon Perdis’ Auto Pilot Jet Set Pack ($38) has tiny portions of essentials including a skin smoothing cream and primer, eye cream, mattifier, moisturiser and lip balm. It even includes single-use sachets of foundation and tan enhancer. Even in a clear plastic bag, it’ll be perfect! Meanwhile, Bloom’s Skin Tonic & Mask ($20) will help cattle class feel at least a little glamorous – just drop a tiny tablet into a sachet and, as it’s infused with witch hazel, aloe vera, chamomile, cucumber and lavender, it morphs into a luxurious cloth mask. Skin salvation! See, I knew the fates would provide…
And, because I also know the only thing uglier than 24 hours of economy flying is finally checking into your hotel to find one of those buzzy, built-in hairdryers is all you’ve got, I’m not leaving the country without Remington’s Professional Travel 1800 ($22.95). Small but perfectly formed for proper blow-dries, it’s good holiday hair guaranteed. Now all I have to do is actually pack it…
I need some Bloom cosmetics!
Wow, these old articles bring back memories
I always try and save my samples, and bring smaller things, hopefully use them up and reduce what comes home too
