At age 40, a lady is certain to have wrinkles. It is also highly likely that her skin will have lost some of the smooth, radiant finish it had in her 20s, and sadly, some areas may even be sagging a teeny tiny bit.
Toni Collette is 40-years-old. Yes, she has lines, and yes, her skin is no longer as tight as it once was, but she looks so fresh. So glowy. So youthful. Yep, it’s clear she’s got a few beauty tricks up her elegant sleeve, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have them, too. In fact, we insist you steal them all, and put them into play straight away.
Anti-ageing beauty trick #1: make use of a sweeping fringe
Hollywood has been utilising the wonderful anti-ageing benefits of the fringe for years, but that’s no reason why we can’t exploit its youth-enhancing abilities, too. Without the need for lotions, potions or the surgeon’s knife, a fringe instantly covers wrinkles and fine lines, while also softening an ageing face. In Toni’s case, her wispy, layered fringe also detracts from the fact that her brows are rather terrible, which is probably the result of over-plucking in her youth.
Anti-ageing beauty trick #2: apply creamy, dewy make-up products
Drying powders are an ageing face’s worst enemy. They seep into fine lines, and leave your skin looking dry and dull. So, a dewy, radiance-enhancing foundation should always be your go-to make-up base. See how Toni’s skin looks youthful and fresh? That’s the result of her foundation. Oh, and said use of creamy products isn’t just limited to your foundation – it includes blush and non-crease eyeshadow, too.
Anti-ageing beauty trick #3: employ coral coloured make-up
Peachy, coral make-up is universally flattering. Yes, it doesn’t matter how old you are, or what skin colour you have, coral will look fabulous on you. Always. Ms Collette’s creamy peach blush gives her a wonderfully natural-looking flush, but the highly pigmented peach gloss also allows her to have fun with her make-up without ageing her one little bit. In fact, the high-gloss finish enhances her glowy complexion tenfold. If she’d selected a matte peach lippie, it probably would’ve had the opposite effect.
Anti-ageing beauty trick #4: utilise long, fluttery eyelashes
As we age, our eyelids tend to droop. However, long, fluttery eyelashes have the nifty ability of minimising this sagging effect. They make your eyes appear wider, more open, and well rested. Just look at Toni’s eyes – her lengthy lashes are not only making her eyes look alert, but youthful as well. So, if you’re rather talented at applying individual false eye lashes, make a habit of applying them to the outer half of your top lash line for an instant anti-ageing effect. Otherwise, brilliant false lash-effect mascaras will also do the trick.
