TikTok has brought us yet another earth shattering, groundbreaking and life-changing beauty hack. And no, that is not sarcasm.
The DIY tinted moisturiser trick introduced to us by make up artist and TikTok sensation, Jay Iziah, turns foundation into a multi-purpose, multi-shade complexion perfecting weapon.

All you need is your full-coverage foundation and a moisturiser you are happy to use on your face. Mix the two on the back of your hand and voila, your very own customisable, tinted moisturiser.
bh recommends: Blessed by Nature Daily Facial Moisturiser, Glow Lab Facial Moisturiser, DermaVeen® Hydrating Facial Moisturiser, Natio Flawless Foundation SPF15, Nude by Nature Flawless Liquid Foundation
With the addition of moisturiser, the formula instantly becomes more sheer, making it far more blendable and adaptable to a greater range of skin shades. Gone are the days of buying different foundation shades for summer and winter, and a BB cream for when you don’t require as much coverage.
Plus, the flexibility of this DIY hack allows you to add in sun protection via an SPF moisturiser, tanning drops for buildable colour or a liquid highlighter if you’re after an added glow.

And the greatest part of all? You can now extend the life-expectancy of your foundation and use every last drop in the bottle, no matter the season.

Have you ever tried mixing your moisturiser with your foundation? Do you usually purchase seasonal foundation shades and tinted moisturisers?
I must have been ahead of this “trend”. I’ve been doing this for years & have commented so on BH.
I’m always mixing my foundations, blending to get just the perfect seasonal shade and I also blend with moisturizer and sunscreen to get what I need.
Good idea and so simple
It seems like a very obvious idea.
Good idea to get the shade you want. Have never tried mixing my own though.
Also works with light concealer with moisturiser or mix with a foundation for a drop in shade. Can change coverage from medium to light and be patchy if the formulas don’t match. You need to use oil based concealer with oil based foundation or water based with the same. You get the idea!
TikTok tells us a lot of things during this pandemic
I like to do this too – haven’t done it for a while though!
I’ve been doing this forever, and I think a lot of others have too. I’ve always assumed it was a fairly widely known thing.
Have seen ads for that tiktok thing, need better ad blocker for my android .
The SPF in the moisturiser isn’t going to give much protection. I’d rather mix foundation with sunscreen.
I’ve done this before. It’s great for those days when you just want a hint of tint.
Good way to make use of foundation that’s too dark
Ive done this heaps before. Using when my foundation is near empty Ill add some moisturiser, and then just use it as lighter coverage.
This is an easy way to apply foundation – love it.
Have been doing this trick for a very long time mixing Two Foundations together to get the shade that best suits You.
this isn’t new LOL
Ah Tik Tok….unfortunately it has yet to give us any new and ground breaking news.
hhmm I agree with many others that have posted on this thread. I think many beauty lovers have been doing this for years.
I haven’t done this but it is a fairly obvious thing to do. I have mixed two shades of foundation together to get a better shade. I usually add a few drops of water to my shampoo, conditioner etc to get the last dregs of products out.
I’ve mixed a few products to get a shade or consistency I wanted but I should really experiment a bit more with the products I have.
I’ve done this for a long time now especially because my skin tone changes a lot between summer and winter and by mixing my summer foundation with moisturiser it means I only ever have to buy one shade. I also mix powdered bronzer in as well when I need to adjust the shade a bit more.
Good Idea but as mentioned here by others, many people have been doing this already. TikTok is a little behind the times!
Aside from this ‘hack’, I’m really enjoying the shift to more natural-looking skin!
Love this idea as a way to get the shade I want
I always mix combos of BB cream, foundation, highlighter, it’s like a different blend everyday
I have been using this technique for ages now (when BB creams weren’t even invented). Nevertheless, it is a great hack and I am glad that these hacks now have a wider reach.
I like a sheer wash of tint for casual outings but this trick has been around since granny days prolly.
So obvious ~ I kinda felt I’ve just wasted 30 seconds to read this article.
haha exactly! but it has to go viral via TikTok and then it’s worth a BH article.
Jaw dropping
Good to know
Hm.. not really new.
Great idea, been around for a while tho
Mm great idea of mixing the two together.
I don’t think this is really revolutionary.
Lol. Exactly what I was thinking.
Great when you have all the wrong shades of foundation
I’ve been doing it for years like it seems many BH members have! However, if you didn’t know now you do.
I rarely wear foundation these days but I may give it a shot.
Earth shattering? Groundbreaking? As others have said this has been known for ages. It is a great hack though.
Good to know…
Im a bit confused – maybe cos Im old! – but I put moisturizer on before foundation anyway, so isnt that similar? Not mixing it first of course – but what is the difference?
I have also done this trend, maybe it’s a new idea for teens?
Go figure =)
It’s the same as a BB cream
I’ve been doing this for years
Hardly a life changing hack, this reads more like a click bait article tbh.
That looks so good!
Great way to use foundation in summer with SPF moisturiser.
Yes, tried this before and it’s great.
