TikTok has brought us yet another earth shattering, groundbreaking and life-changing beauty hack. And no, that is not sarcasm.
The DIY tinted moisturiser trick introduced to us by make up artist and TikTok sensation, Jay Iziah, turns foundation into a multi-purpose, multi-shade complexion perfecting weapon.

All you need is your full-coverage foundation and a moisturiser you are happy to use on your face. Mix the two on the back of your hand and voila, your very own customisable, tinted moisturiser.
bh recommends: Blessed by Nature Daily Facial Moisturiser, Glow Lab Facial Moisturiser, DermaVeen® Hydrating Facial Moisturiser, Natio Flawless Foundation SPF15, Nude by Nature Flawless Liquid Foundation
With the addition of moisturiser, the formula instantly becomes more sheer, making it far more blendable and adaptable to a greater range of skin shades. Gone are the days of buying different foundation shades for summer and winter, and a BB cream for when you don’t require as much coverage.
Plus, the flexibility of this DIY hack allows you to add in sun protection via an SPF moisturiser, tanning drops for buildable colour or a liquid highlighter if you’re after an added glow.
bh recommends: Bourjois Sculpt Bronze Highlighter, Models Own Sculpt & Glow Liquid Highlighter, Benefit High Beam Liquid Highlighter
And the greatest part of all? You can now extend the life-expectancy of your foundation and use every last drop in the bottle, no matter the season.

Have you ever tried mixing your moisturiser with your foundation? Do you usually purchase seasonal foundation shades and tinted moisturisers?
I’ve been doing this for years but it’s a great hack that a lot of people don’t actually know about! Especially if you have a foundation that is slightly too full coverage for you
I used Natio flawless foundation , it is a light/ medium coverage foundation , very light and great for every day use.
What a good tip and much more natural
Great idea, I use moisturiser with SPF so sun safe as well.
I put moisturizer before foundation. I might give it a try though.
I guess applying moisturizer before the foundation makes more sense to me since most of us do our skincare before applying makeup. But I would definitely give this a go and see if it works well for winter especially!
Iv’e been doing this a while now, after discovering Clinique pigment drops, I decided to mix my own
oh wow haha. nice
What a fabulous idea, i do have a foundation that is a little to dark a shade for my skin, can’t wait to give it a go.:)
Although others say they have done this. I must give it a try.
Yeah for a more everyday look – kinda like a BB cream!
I bought a Glow Lab moisturiser in the RR so I might give it a go with that when it arrives!
Yes but you can adjust to make much lighter and feels much more natural.
I’ve done that and it’s such a good idea especially if some products are perfect for your skin.
The things we learn from tik tok haha. Totally already knew this one though.
Wow.
I’ve been doing this for a while 🙂
I’ve heard about this trick before but I need more coverage than a tinted moisturiser because I have broken capillaries on my cheeks.
This is not a new idea, it’s been around for years to mix moisturiser and foundation.
I used to do this all the time.
I also like a drop of oil into foundation too, it gives it a more dewy look
this hack is much older than tik tok
I have never thought of doing this before, reading this “hack” has been around for so long makes me regret buying so much BB cream before!! Definitely will do this for work going forward
I normally try it with my more heavy duty foundations that cover quite a lot so that way I’m still receiving some coverage, not too light, just in between
This is a classic hack and one of the diy I do quite a lot because of how easy and versatile it is. You also save tonnes of money hahahah
I’ve been doing this for years. I also mix in a drop of oil into my foundation and BB for a dewy finish.
I would have thought that many ladies would have been doing this already just to get that easy even coverage.
I tried this with my BB cream and my moisturiser and it felt and looked so good -great tip and so natural.
i have tried this out before and i recommend it to everyone, such a great hack!
Yes, I have tried mixing my moisturiser with my foundation but I wasn’t happy with the result. It made my face look streaky.
I thought this was common knowledge? I’m 42 and been doing it since my teens.
I’ve never done it. But like the idea.
Mixing moisturiser with foundation is fine, but mixing moisturiser with sunscreen is not. It dilutes it and makes it less effective.
I just put on moisturizer then foundation
I’ve done this and experimented with different moisturiser/foundation combinations.
Cool hack!!!
I’, constantly mixing products as the shades on their own don’t suit my skin tone
I love to use tinted moisturiser. Very convenient to use.I have never thought about this before. Thanks for the tip.
I have some this before and enjoyed the results
This is a good idea
I do this all the time. I kind of thought it was an obvious thing everyone already knew.
Do you mix it everyday or do you mix it in advance?
This is so creative, I can imagine this would take some time too.
I tried doing this and it is a fail for me. Far too moist to apply and hold, no matter how little I used.
I do that sometimes and sometimes I am doing the other way – depends if I’ve made up my mind whether I’m going to wear foundation that day or not – a mood thing with me!
I find it depends a lot on the particular foundation and particular sunscreen ,
I’ve never put it the other way around; ie moisturiser over foundation. I would have thought it would dull the foundation or at least smudge it.
lol Susmat when I said ‘the other way round’ I meant that I mixed the two products together (foundation and moisturiser) and put it on my skin together all at once. : ) Sorry I wasn’t saying it very well.
oops! My bad. I’ll give it a go mixing them before applying though I’m not too sure of the benefit
Good tip. Will need to try this.
