A month into my London adventure I faced my reflection in the mirror and applied my regular mascara, ready for a day full of sightseeing and fun and caught a glimpse of my brows. “Yeah, they look okay,” I thought to myself. Seeing as I’d been performing the occasional tweeze I didn’t think they were in such bad nick. I had a date to visit the Benefit Boutique in Covent Garden later that day anyway – and I was sure they’d give me top marks on the brow front.
I arrived at the beautiful boutique nice and early to take part in a ‘Face Date’ with Head Make-up & Trend Artist Lisa Potter-Dixon – who on the first Wednesday of every month is available all day at the Covent Garden store to perform a number of treatments such as brow arch shaping, brow tinting and lash tinting, among others. I felt like I was meeting a celebrity. Cue clammy palms.
Lisa whisked me on to a chair, complimented my make-up and said my brows looked great, she was just going to tidy them up a little. She waxed in between my brows to collect the fair hairs I’d missed and perfected my brow arch before applying a darker
brow tint. She then went on to apply some concealer over any parts of my skin that were red from the wax (bless her) and a fresh sweep of bronzer before showing me the finished look in a mirror.
Well! If I thought my brows looked good before, they’d pretty much win first prize at a brow beauty contest now! You know, if there were such a thing…
What I’ve learned: even if you’re a fan of keeping up your own brow maintenance, it does pay to go to a professional every now and then to make sure you have the perfect shape for you face. While I’m sure you’re doing a cracking job using the tips and tricks you pick up at bh, if you do book an appointment at a Benefit Brow Bar you’ll definitely see the difference.
