It’s one thing for a beauty product to gain viral status on TikTok. However, it’s another level of excitement entirely when that viral product is also a dupe for a more expensive fave.
Having recently discovered a Dior blush dupe for $4, we can now add another affordable alternative to our makeup kit: e.l.f 16HR Camo Concealer.
TikTok brought our attention to this $10 concealer (stocked at Target) after creators labelled it as a dupe for everyone’s favourite full-coverage concealer, the Tarte Shape Tape. Which is not only good news for our dark circles but also for our wallets, as Tarte’s version retails at over four times the price, coming in at a cool $42 per tube.
Tarte’s formula has been a long-time favorite of users with dry skin looking for long-lasting, full coverage that won’t flake or crease, and much to our delight, e.l.f’s version appears to bring a similar list of benefits.
Having gained over 2.9 million views on the #elfcamoconcealer hashtag, this budget concealer offers an astonishing amount of pigment that isn’t typically found in budget beauty products.
Similar to the Tarte Shape Tape, the Camo Concealer lasts for up to 16 hours, and effectively conceals pigmentation, blemishes, scars and dark circles with a very minimal amount of product.
The satin finish concealer by e.l.f is specifically designed for normal, combination, and dry skin types, as it is a lightweight formula that won’t crease or flake. Additionally it’s been enriched with anti-inflammatory rose flower water and sodium hyaluronate to lock in moisture and soothe redness or irritation.
The similarities don’t stop at the formula either. e.l.f’s concealer is also equipped with a large doe-foot applicator, similar to the popular Shape Tape’s jumbo speed smoother™ .
However, if you’re a Shape Tape devotee, you might be let down by the shade variety (or lack thereof). As it currently stands, Target only has the e.l.f collection available in 10 shades of beige and tan. A disappointing contrast to Tarte, which has a more expansive range of 35 shades.
Have you tried this Tarte Shape Tape dupe? What did you think?
I can agree with this. Elf has some amazing products.
Their lip exfoliators are amazing!
Ooh now I need to add that to my list of ‘to buy’.
I don’t go to Target that often – only for work trousers – but since I not been in the office regularly for 1.5 years I have no need to visit Target.
Therefore can I ask for you to check where the products are made?
I haven’t tried it but I will be. I have heaps of elf products and love the brand.
I don’t use concealer but if I do find I need it I’ll definitely give this one a try. Looks outstanding.
Same here, and agree these sound pretty good.
Must try the ELF. Love Shape Tape.
My Target no longer stocks any makeup, I’m having trouble finding places that actually stock this concealer. Kmart have some ELF but the range is super limited.
I will probably not find in our NZ Target shop then -but have a look anyway
JuJu47, try their website!
E.L.F have a website from which you can order!
That’s a good tip – would make things easier as I don’t know if it even gets sold around here
Owwww no I haven’t tried the tarte version or the elf dupe another product on my radar thanks to bh.
The applicator looks massive! I have heard great things about this concealer.
I’ve tried a few ELF products & they were good, but I haven’t tried this one.
Sounds like it would definitely be worth a try!
I will have to get some of this, my face needs some good concealing magic at the moment.
You are not alone with that one .
Add to cart.
Wow I must check out Target here in NZ as that is a serious must have at that price -Thank You
Definitely need to try this ELF product Tarte Shape Tape dupe always looking for a good concealer. 🙂🎄
Looks good, love elf makeup 🙂
I’ve been looking for a good concealor, just could never find ‘The One’ so I will be trying this for sure. I will have to look around because my local Target has shut down 🙁
I love elf products! They work well and are really affordable. Plus they’re cruelty free
I need to try them I think
With so many Targets closing down it’s a good job Kmart also stocks Elf. I don’t use concealer (although I probably should) but always good to know what’s out there. I don’t look at TikTok either so BH is a good source for these things.
Elf cosmetics are fabulous, but I do wonder if it would be moisturising enough for older woman skin. Anyone over 40 given it a try and can let me know?
I hadn’t heard of the Elf brand before – sounds Christmassy!
I haven’t tried either products but I’ll give the e.l.f one a go.
Thanks for this article as is is really appreciated by many of us.
I will be keeping an eye out for this. Great tip.
Looks like a good concealer!
Must try this as I have a hard time with my dark circles
When I have been to Mecca I look at the tarte section like a kid in a candy store.
Never tried wither. Do not like full coverage.

I must admit I haven’t discovered either of these brands yet.

I wonder if my target here sells it – I’ll have to check that

Wow 10 shades! That’s good for a cheaper brand!
They have a huge range in Kmart. It’s all the colours there. I do have this product – it’s quite good
I’ve never tried shape tape so I wouldn’t know what I’m comparing to!
I haven’t tried the original or the dupe!
I’ve never used shape tape before but have seen it pop up in the beauty community on YouTube a lot lately.
