What’s the most important thing to keep in mind with Spring racing makeup looks?
According to Liz, remembering that you are in broad daylight is key when it comes to your makeup look. “Keep the skin fresh remember it so that you can make a statement with yours eyes or lips while not looking too overdone,” she says. “Remember it’s a daytime event so you want to look great even in full sunlight.”
And don’t forget to think about how your fashion choices will work with your beauty look. “For example, a smokey eye may look great with your outfit, but when you put your hat on your fabulous smokey eye almost disappears and you find the look really needs a statement lip,” says Liz.
What are the biggest Spring racing makeup trends that we will be seeing this year?
Liz predicts that statement lips in vibrant pinky reds, coloured mascara and eyeliner will be popular this year.

- Max Factor Lipfinity Long Lasting Lipstick (but hopefully if you’ve put in the prep in the morning you won’t need much).
- Max Factor Healthy Skin Harmony Miracle Foundation is a race day must have! A long-wear foundation with SPF and a glowy finish.
What’s the biggest mistake that you see women making with their makeup for race day?
“Wearing too much makeup and looking overdone, the best way to avoid this is to keep the skin as fresh looking as possible,” says Liz.
A bold lip is always trending at the races. How can we make sure it stays put all day?
If you’re going to wear a bold lip, it’s so important to do the prep work first. Liz recommends exfoliating your lips the night before and wearing a lip balm to bed.
Powder or cream products for the races?
“For eyes, both cream as a base with powder on top for extra depth,” says Liz. For blush, she recommends a cream blush as it gives just the right amount of colour and a lift and lightness to your race day makeup.
