How To Recreate Sienna Miller’s ‘Anatomy of a Scandal’ Hair And Makeup

Loved it? Hated it? Still haven’t even seen it? Whatever your stance, it’s our duty to share any news available on how to recreate Sienna Miller’s seriously stunning hair and makeup looks from her latest series, Anatomy of a Scandal. Though it’s no groundbreaking 10-step beauty routine, Kate Benton (the on-set hair and makeup artist) shared the inspiration behind the look and the few products she relied on to achieve it. 

“We wanted to tell the story of Miller’s character, Sophie Whitehouse, through her hair and makeup. She’s a character who had it all from birth, knows what looks good, the ‘right’ makeup to wear and how to look effortless,” she told Vogue. “Of course, because I was working with Sienna, who is drop dead gorgeous, the basic look was already there.”

The makeup…

The brief? “To make Sienna look as if she hadn’t just come out of the makeup chair,” Kate explained. This meant avoiding heavy setting powders and instead, opting for natural, luminous coverage via the Burberry Glow Foundation ($99, David Jones).

The Daniel Phillips MAQPRO Basic Base Box ($58, Precious About Makeup) was also used for any shading, contouring and additional coverage. To achieve Sienna’s natural flush, Kate lightly applied Chantecaille’s hydrating gel blush, the Cheek Gelee ($67, MECCA).

The hair…

Kate described the look as being “a cross between the perfect Liz Hurley wave and a beachy look.” To create it, they “tonged it loosely and left the ends out to create an undone finish,” using the Babyliss Curling Tong ($93, Oz Hair And Beauty) and sealing with the Bumble and Bumble Dryspun Texture Spray ($22, MECCA) to rough it up a little.

But blink and you’ll miss it. Without giving too much away, as the show progresses, Sienna’s character Sophie starts on a downward spiral. How exactly is the breakdown represented? Through tired eyes and dishevelled-looking hair, replacing the once polished red lip and bouncy waves. It’s a look we could break down for you, but if you’re anything like us, you’ve got exhausted bed-hair down to a fine art.
