Filling in sparse brows can often be the most time-consuming part of our morning routine. After combing back our arches and feathering in hair-like strokes with our best eyebrow pencil or pomade, it’s only a matter of hours before we cleanse it all off at the end of the day. It’s for this reason that TikTok users have sought out a longer-lasting option that isn’t quite as permanent as an eyebrow tattoo.
If you assumed they were using a semi-permanent at-home brow dye, well, you’ve used some serious logic. However, why use a product made specifically for tinting your brows when you could use… fake tan?
@tiktokteenagers TINTING my eyebrows with FAKE TAN 😧🥵 Will it work?! 🤭 #fyp #faketan #eyebrows #tintedbrows #diy ♬ Fake Tan Brows Part One by Chanelle Spivak – Cece
How does it work?
Let’s begin with what you’ll need: fake tan and a fine-tipped or angled makeup brush.
Once your tools are all in order, dispense one pump of your chosen tan (try to select a shade that will closely match your brow colour). Next, dip your brush in and lightly paint the fake tan onto your brows (just as you would a regular brow product).
According to most TikTok users, the setting time is anywhere between one to three hours depending on your desired colour.
To wash off, take a micellar water (like the BIODERMA Sensibio H2O Soothing Micellar Water Cleanser, $22.95 at Chemist Warehouse) on a cotton pad and wipe the excess off your brows.
If you don’t have those in your stash, the WaterWipes ($8 at Woolworths) will work a treat. Simple.
The results? Hopefully fuller, darker and more defined brows. If there’s any hint that a tinge of orange is seeping into your skin — abort mission.
Though we can’t vouch for its potential as a brow tint, we can however, recommend SugarBaby’s READY SET GLOW ($20.99 at Chemist Warehouse) fake tan for its natural colour.
Good luck!
What do you think about this brow tint technique? Would you give it a try?
I have some fake tan that needs using up, but I really like the brand 1000 hour for tinting.
I think it’s weird, I wouldn’t try it.
It seems a bit risky in terms of what colour you end up with, how many times you might have to repeat the process, and how long it will last.
I need to get my head around this, sounds tempting but risky
I think I’d be worried about tanning the skin underneath but I might give it a go. I wonder if it will work on grey/white eyebrow hair.
Only one way to find out . Could be fun.
What a clever idea and worth trying.
The colour doesn’t match exactly so it stands out and not in a good way
you sound like you have tried it ?
I would never thought of that
Would never have thought of this.
Not sure about this procedure I don’t do Fake Tans at all, on my body I always prefer to stay out of the Sun.
There is such a lot of maintenance on keeping a beautiful fake tan.
Certainly would think twice about using it on my eyebrows even though they are sparse in some areas.
Makes sense, I guess.
Doesn’t sound like a great idea.
I wasn’t convinced when I read the headline but now that I’ve seen the demo I think I will give this a go. I spend sooooo long trying to perfect my sparse brows.
What a great hack
This would make my eyebrows go orange!
Not for me.
Sorry, like many things I’ve seen attributed to TikTok this is another I think is crazy.
I feel like eyebrows should just be left alone
I think it would just be quicker and easier to use an eye-brow pencil , but good on her for trying to be creative.
This sounds good!
Sounds great but not sure about giving it a go.
What an interesting hack
No way! I’m sticking with 1000Hr.
