The runway make-up trends you never thought you’d see

Have you ever wanted to replicate a runway beauty look, but felt intimidated by the hair and/or make-up artistry involved?

Well, we’ve got two catwalk-approved (albeit slightly unconventional) beauty looks any girl is sure to nail with ease.

First let me introduce the ‘sweaty-faced’ base. Yep, you read that correctly. Not just a bit dewy, the perspiration-inspired sheen seen on the Alexander Wang, Creatures of the Wind and Prabal Gurung New York Fashion Week spring runways was spectacularly shiny. In fact, it looked like the models had gone straight to work from a workout. Forget your fancy illuminator: the only thing you need for this look is a raised heart rate.

Not convinced about giving up your matte base in favour of seriously sweaty-looking skin? I feel you, but don’t despair; you can still get your runway beauty fix with a subtler lipstick-free lip. Seen at Alexander Wang as well as Thakoon and Jason Wu, plain pouts were a refreshing departure from the bolder lippie we’ve coveted in previous seasons. The best thing? Nothing more than a slick of plain lip balm such as Carmex® lip balm jar or Burt’s Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil is required to achieve the look.

Unfortunately, with Liptember in full swing, we can’t be giving up our pretty bright lippies any time soon – even if the top designers demand it!

Would you work either of these unconventional ‘beauty’ looks? When it comes to make-up, do you like to go all out, or is your mantra ‘less-is-more’?
