Sometimes I find it ironic that I work in beauty. Don’t get me wrong, I love all things make-up, skin, hair, body, and hell, even dental. But I haven’t always been this way.
When I was a teenager, I didn’t wear make-up. Not even an ounce of it. It makes looking back at pictures the least fun activity I can think of. And when I do look back at my teenage years, I can’t help but wish something like BB Cream existed. It truly is the make-up item that every teen should own.
What? You think I’m exaggerating? Please, I would never. Especially when I’ve got some solid points to back up my argument (pity I didn’t become a lawyer, right?):
#1: BB Cream hydrates
Just like a moisturiser, BB Cream contains hydrating and nourishing properties that work to keep your skin soft and supple. Why is this important to teens? No matter your age, skin hydration is incredibly important. Moisturised skin is less prone to breakouts, less flaky, and much more glowy. I dare you to tell me you don’t want those things.
#2: BB Cream gives coverage
More specifically, lightweight coverage. Which is necessary for young skin. Heavy products can clog your pores, which can lead to breakouts and pimples – a major skin dilemma for most teens. Lightweight coverage will help your skin breath and reduce the chance of that nasty little sucker appearing on your chin.
#3: BB Cream hides all manner of sins
Don’t be frightened by the term ‘lightweight coverage’, because it doesn’t mean light coverage (as in it doesn’t cover much at all). BB Creams can work wonders to conceal imperfections or blemishes and make sure your complexion looks nothing but smooth and flawless.
#4: BB Creams helps minimise shine
As a teen, your skin is prone to oiliness – with or without make-up. Some BB Creams can actually help control unwanted shine, especially on your T-zone. Oh, and one with an oil-free formula will also do wonders to ensure grease stays far, far away from your forehead.
#5: BB Creams brighten
So you know that BB Creams give you coverage, but did you know that some BB Creams actually contain ingredients to give your skin a brighter, more radiant finish? They can help your skin look youthful and dewy without the need to delve into illuminators. Count your lucky stars, teens.
See? Point proven. BB Creams should be an essential item for every teenage girl everywhere.
But not all BB Creams are created equal (or to suit everyone). Which means it’s incredibly important for you to find the BB Cream that’s right for you. And if you are a teenager who suffers from oily skin and breakouts, then you need to use the right kind of BB Cream for your skin.
Maybelline New York Dream Pure BB Cream is especially designed for young skin that’s prone to oiliness. Not only does it help to hide and conceal spots while hydrating your skin, it also works to reduce blemishes (thanks to the salicylic acid in it), minimise pores and calm skin redness. It’s almost like it’s the one-stop-shop for teen skin.
So, if for no other reason than to pay tribute to my make-up-less past, get your youthful hands on a good BB Cream. You won’t regret it.
Do you use BB Cream? Have you ever used a BB Cream that’s targeted to oily and acne-prone skin?
