Prepare for a cold front

Prepare for a cold front

So as you read this blog, it’s May, mid-May, which means it’s almost June – which is the beginning of, yep, you guessed it…winter.

Now, usually I don’t mind the telltale signs of winter’s icy approach. There’s nothing I love more than whipping out that favorite military coat, my plum polish and any new goodies to keep me snug during the cold months (like that mustard scarf I’ve been eyeing…)

So you can imagine my dismay when I woke up yesterday morning with dry, completely chapped lips. I was shocked – I’d not even felt the need for a jacket yet, so it never crossed my mind that I’d have to pull out my heavy-duty hydrating lip balm so soon.

Luckily, I had the reinforcements at hand to take care of the situation. What I needed first was a good exfoliation to rid my kissers of any dead skin (kind of gross I know, but oh-so necessary!). Jane Iredale Sugar and Butter Lip Duo, with it’s organic, cinnamon-smelling brown sugar was a great first step – it gives your pout the scrub it needs, before you take to it with a hydrating lip balm.

Next up, the perfect pout hydrator. I personally always keep Carmex Lip Balm Squeeze Tube on my bedside table for such emergencies and it does the job brilliantly. One application left on overnight and you won’t recognize your once-chapped smile – a girl can never be without kissable lips after all.
