There’s no better time to get your complexion in great shape than the start of a brand-new year. We all want glowing skin, but it’s safe to say that we’re all looking a little worse for wear after the party season. If you want to bring in the New Year with a brighter, more luminous complexion – here’s how to get post-party glowing skin.

Try a morning mask
After a big night, a facemask will do wonders for your complexion. But most people make the mistake of masking at night before they go to bed, and then no one gets to see your glowing post-mask skin. Instead, pop on a serum-drenched sheet mask in the morning before makeup and in minutes you’ll have plump, glowing skin.

Ditch foundation for a skin-loving complexion enhancer
Instead of applying a drying foundation, swap it for a dewy, skin-loving complexion enhancer. It will even out your complexion like a foundation, but provide skin care benefits too. If you love coverage like I do, you should steer clear of BB creams and choose a CC cream. CC stands for ‘colour corrector’ and it will still give you the coverage you want while also hydrating and plumping your skin full of antioxidants.

Hide those dark circles
The best way to hide dark circles is with a peach-toned corrector. I swear by this to hide my dark circles, but the results are all in the application. To avoid under eye creases or product build-up, always warm up the corrector with your fingers for a few seconds before pressing it under the eye area. Wait a few more seconds to allow the product to melt onto the skin (I usually like to do my brows while I wait) and then apply your normal concealer on top and your dark circles will have disappeared.

Add some colour back to your complexion
Adding some colour back to your complexion will instantly wake-up tired skin. I’d recommend choosing a cream blush that doubles as a lip colour. This will give you a flattering flush that looks like you’ve just had 8 hours sleep. I love these little pots because you can keep them in your handbag for on-the-go touch ups.

Hydration, hydration, hydration
Alcohol can leave your complexion looking dull and dehydrated, so rather than setting your makeup with a powder that will cover up your skin – use a hydrating facial mist instead. It’ll set your makeup and leave you looking fresh. Flight Attendants swear by facial mist to keep their skin glowing and makeup looking flawless for long-haul flights.
