Gosh, darn it fickle fashion, will you make up your mind, one minute they’re thin, one minute they’re bold, next they’re in, now they’re out. The brow I’m talking about, in case you can’t keep up with the frantic pace.
It’s another upshot of the GFC, surprise surprise. Make-up artist extraordinaire Pat McGrath worked the fall Balenciaga and Prada catwalks, both of which displayed bleached-out brows, and said, “The current economic troubles open people up to be more daring and willing to don cutting-edge looks.” But how well will it work on the street? I weighed up the pros and cons.
Reasons to indulge this rather zany trend…
1. Well you will be bang on trend. Models such as Agyness Deyn, Lily Donaldson and Linda Evangelista have all gone sans brows recently.
2. Queen Hermonie did it. Yes she-that-can-do-no-wrong, Miss Emma Watson, had her brows whitened out for a recent Crash photo shot.
3. You can’t claim “old age” as a reason not to do it. ‘90s model Kristen McMenamy, who is 42, appears on the cover of Italian Vogue eyebrowless.
4. Quite possibly the most fashion-forward person on the plant, French Vogue Editor, Carine Roitfeld, once advised Lara Stone to bleach her brows. This year she was all over the Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier and Prada runways. So that’s the way to do it…
Reasons to run for the hills…
Need I actually list them?
If you do need further warning, even little Hermione struggled to look crash hot and she possesses a touch more beauty than most of us mere mortals. And take a look at yours truly below indulging in the trend with a bit of help from our friend Photoshop. Not my finest look, I’m sure you’ll agree.
How much do you care about your eyebrows? Would you dare to bare?
