Oh, hey there! Noticed anything different about us today?
Like, it’s no big deal or anything, but we’ve just had a little bit of a makeover. Since the changes are more than skin-deep (don’t worry, not too much has changed. Promise!), we thought it would be quite fun to take you on a virtual tour of the site and point out some of the new features and changes.
NEW LOOK AND FEEL
We’ve essentially had the technological version of a haircut and colour – it’s the same us, just a little jazzier.
The top navigation bar now sits on just one row, with the second row up on the top right of your screen. So that’s where you can find the forums, competitions, archived blogs, Trial Teams, expert guides and information about earning points to swap for free beauty products.
You’ll also notice the homepage looks a little different, with the Beauty Buzzes now at the top of the page, videos and tutorials making an appearance, and a dedicated area for Trial Teams.
MESSAGES
Did you spot that little tab at the very top of the page? It’s cool, right? This will light up when you receive points, when you’ve been invited to a Trial Team, and when you need to be notified about comments (more on that in a bit) – plus more!
COMMENTING AND REPLYING TO COMMENTS
You know how sometimes you want to reply to a specific comment but feel like it gets lost amongst all the other comments? Well, now you can reply to a specific comment and group them together in a conversation of sorts. And if someone replies to your comment, you’ll get a notification in your messages.
FORUMS
We’ve added a giant button for you to create forum topics, making it easier than ever to start a conversation.
Once you’ve clicked into a forum topic, you can also choose to ‘Follow this thread’. This means it will be added to your ‘My Threads’ tab, and you’ll get a notification every time someone posts in that forum.
If you created a forum topic, you will also receive a notification when members reply to that topic.
THE CATEGORIES
If you hover your mouse over each category, you’ll see a drop-down menu, which allows you to click straight into one of the sub-categories or an article type. If you click on the category, it will take you to the page where you’ll see the latest content and the most recently reviewed products in that category.
BRANDS
You can find a brand by either clicking on the ‘All Brands’ tab on the top navigation bar, or by scrolling right down to the bottom of any page to see the A-Z.
REVIEWS
Towards the top of the page, you’ll see a blue bar that says ‘Find reviews’. This will take you to a page where you can search products by category. Alternatively, you can use the brand A-Z at the bottom of the page or ‘All Brands’ tab.
The green bar, which says ‘Write a Review’, will take you to the brands page so you can quickly find the product you’d like to review. You can also use the search bar to find the product.
When you land on a product page, you’ll see a grey box with a percentage. This tells you how many reviewers rated the product four or five stars. You can also choose to ‘Follow this product’. This means that we’ll be clued in on interest in products, and if there’s huge interest, we can get in touch with brands to alert them.
In each member review, you’ll find a sentence that says, ‘Was this review helpful?’ By ticking yes, you’re letting other members of the community know that it’s an incredibly useful review.
You’ll also be able to sort the reviews by date, Trial Team, and most helpful.
In the coming months, reviews that have been submitted for the Trial Team will have a navy Trial Team sticker next to them.
It’s the same old process when it comes to submitting reviews, except if you’re submitting a review for the Trial Team. It will all be explained to you in greater detail, but in a nutshell, you’ll have to submit your review via a link sent in an email. It won’t work the same if you just find the product as usual and submit it that way.
YOUR MEMBER AREA
When you click into the member area (which you get to by clicking on your username at the top), you’ll see how many points you have, as well as your member status and how you can earn extra points (if you haven’t completely filled out your profile).
You’ll also see we’ve changed up the status names to be clearer, so say see ya later to Beauty Lover, Beauty Fanatic, Beauty Buff and Beauty Guru, and give a warm welcome to Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Just like Beauty Guru, Platinum is invite-only.
‘My Favourites’ is now divided into ‘All’, ‘Articles’, and ‘Products’, and if you head on over to ‘Edit Profile’, you’ll see a red flag next to all the areas you still need to fill out. Once you’ve filled them out sufficiently, they’ll get a green tick and you’ll earn your points.
So there you have it – those are some of the main changes. And this is just the beginning, because we’ve been brainstorming many more ways to make beautyheaven better for you, and we can’t wait to bring them to you in the future.
For now though, please leave any feedback you have in the comments section below or in this forum thread – we’ll be listening!
What do you think of the changes to beautyheaven? What would you love to see on beautyheaven?
