When it comes to her style, hair and makeup, Nadia Bartel is a woman who knows what she’s doing. Always polished and perfectly done up, Nadia’s Instagram account provides endless screenshot-able beauty inspiration. She’s mastered the undone wave, excelled at the matte nude lip and made a soft brown smokey eye her trademark.
And now? Instead of just taking a stab in the dark on how to best recreate her latest look, Nadia has taken to TikTok to bless us with a step-by-step makeup tutorial.
Today’s lesson? Her concealer hack for flawless under eyes.
What is Nadia Bartel’s concealer hack?
It’s no longer enough to place just one shade of concealer under our eyes, blend it in and call it a day. Increasingly more celebrities are relying on this pigmented base product to do much more than hide dark circles.
Just as Jessica Alba uses her concealer to contour, Nadia uses not one but two shades of concealer to both correct, highlight and absorb oil.
Sharing to her TikTok, Nadia says “I want to show you exactly what I use,” as she picks up the Hourglass Vanish™ Airbrush Concealer ($54, Hourglass) and MAC’s Pro Longwear Concealer ($54, MAC Cosmetics).
It’s important to note that the latter appeared roughly one to two shades deeper than the Hourglass concealer.
Elevating a classic concealer routine, Nadia dots the Hourglass concealer, which happens to be the lighter of the two (in both colour and consistency), in all the usual places. Before blending it in, she layers MAC’s product right on top.
Taking a makeup sponge, Nadia blends the concealer underneath her eyes, between her brows, beside her nostrils, across her chin and down the bridge of her nose.
Naturally, extra concealer equals extra coverage. But couldn’t Nadia just use one fuller-coverage product instead?
Well, technically yes. However, her technique seems to maintain a balance between adequately blurring imperfections without looking overly heavy or caking. The dream, right?

Who is this hack most suitable for?
Let’s face it, some of us will be happy with the results of just one concealer. After all, the perfect formulation is always dependent on our personal skin types and concerns. If you’re asking Nadia herself, she’ll tell you that this technique will come in handy “as you get a little bit older.”
Any oily skin types in the room? According to Nadia, this dual-action approach has become her saving grace when it comes to preventing unwanted shine. In fact, she credits MAC’s mattifying concealer for locking her product in place. Describing it as being “so good for people who are oily like me.”
“Look at the coverage, it’s beautiful,” she says as she finishes up. And she’s certainly not wrong.
Though we’re not oblivious to the subtle beauty filter that TikTok layers over videos, there’s no denying that Nadia has taken her complexion from near-flawless to completely flawless.
Whether we think it’s an unnecessary extra step or not, Nadia doesn’t have a pore, blemish or spot in sight. So, obviously we will be testing this out at once.
