Margot Robbie’s press trip for her latest flick Once Upon A Time in Hollywood has basically doubled as a beauty tour. To put it in film terms, it’s been the equivalent of Bohemian Rhapsody’s Oscar season, just win, after win, after win. In other words, in the hair and makeup realm, Robbie really can do no wrong. From glossy red lips and ombre sunset shadow to bouffant waves and a negative space smoky eye, Margot’s been channelling 60s glamour at every stop, paying homage to iconic actress Sharon Tate (who Margot actually portrays in the Tarantino flick). Of course, it doesn’t hurt that she’s got makeup maestro Pati Dubroff and mane master Bryce Scarlett at her side on every stop, but don’t worry – even if your glam squad exists of, well, just you (relatable), these looks are absolutely still achievable. Smoke Show
This may look like your regular smoky eye at first glance, but Margot’s actually taken the evergreen trend to a new level with a negative space take on it. Use a grey shadow crayon (with some shimmer in the formula for extra sparkle) to draw an exaggerated outline of your eye, starting from your outer corner and lining a few centimetres above your crease before easing off a few centimetres away from your inner corner (taper off once you reach the other side of your pupil to avoid closing eyes off too much). Warm some of the same shade between your fingers and then tap the colour gently across the rest of the lid, adding some subtle colour over the entire eye whilst letting the line stay the statement. A shimmery satin nude lip will complement the look perfectly, and that same colour can be tapped onto the apples of cheeks for a glowy flush. Dial up the vintage vibes by backcombing the rear half of your hair, then parting the front section in the centre, using a slim straightener to twist ends inwards, leaving ends to curl in and flick up, and a few jaw-length pieces to act as face framers.

Red Hot
Love rocking red but don’t have time for touch-ups? Go for gloss – wet-look formulas will still deliver a wash of gorgeous cherry colour, but without running the risk of bleeding or smudging. Warm up your complexion with a few sweeps of bronzer, concentrating the colour along your cheekbones, jawline and temples to define your angles. Sweep the same bronzer over eyelids for a subtle copper shadow, and then finish your face with a swipe of brow gel and a lick of lengthening mascara.

Cream Dream
We’re always down for low maintenance looks that still deliver high impact. Opt for a matte foundation and concealer combo, and then reach for a cream-coloured shadow and a pinky nude gloss. As for those sea-swept strands, a few spritzes of salt spray should do the trick. To create maximum volume around your face, flip your hair over, spritz from roots to mid-lengths and massage into your mane, before settling strands into a deep side part. No need to neaten up – you’re basically aiming for a chic take on ‘just drove 100km/h on a freeway in a convertible’ hair.

Sunset Lover
Margot proves the sun certainly hasn’t set on sunset shades with her orange and purple ombre eye. Start with a full coverage foundation formula and a brightening concealer under eyes – coverage is key to making sure the warmth of the colours doesn’t bring out any redness in skin. Begin with a wash of your orange shade, winging the shadow out slightly towards the tail of your brow as you blend. Add the purple almost as if it were liner, carving out a coloured cat eye shape. Our tip? Position your finger pointing toward the bottom of your nose and resting on your cheekbone, to create a line from the tail of your brow to the outer corner of your eye. Hold it there while you build and blend the shadow to keep the shape in place. On lips opt for a hue that’s a hybrid between the two shades featured on your eyes – luckily, a blend between orange and purple makes for a wearable pink with plum undertones – we’ll take it.

Lemon Fresh
Some would certainly say that lemon eyeshadow isn’t the obvious makeup choice when wearing an olive gown, but Margot certainly makes a convincing case for it. Sweep pale yellow shadow across your entire lid, but don’t worry too much about pigment payoff – subtlety is the secret to taking lemon into the wearable world. Opt for a peachy-pink crème formula on cheeks and lips, tapping on with fingers for an undone vibe. Let your locks air dry to build natural texture; if your hair is wavy, add some thickening foam for extra density, and if your strands are naturally straight, a curl cream will help to add some covetable kinks.

Ready to replicate Margot’s girl-next-door freshness? Surprisingly, silver shadow is your shortcut – think less disco, more daytime. Using your ring finger, dab a pearlescent cream formula onto eyes, concentrating colour on the inner corner for a wide awake look. Fill in brows with a soft pencil, drawing hair-like strokes towards the tail of the brow to frame the face, and then add a subtle coat of defining mascara to lashes and a rouge-y tint to lips. Up next? Bohemian braids. Start with centre-parted semi-straight strands; use a straightening brush to flick the ends of your hair in towards your face, and then separate two small sections on each side, braiding them from the temple area down. Leave those tiny clear elastics you hoarded back in dance concert days in storage, there’s no need to tie the plaits off – the loose ends adds to the low-key look.

Bronze Bombshell
It’s time to take your look tonal. Steer bronze shadow out of basic territory by bringing it all the way up to the brow bone and all the way out to the tail of the brow. Add a lighter bronze shimmery shadow to inner corners, then anchor eyes with lashings of mascara on top and bottom. Make the most of your palette by dusting a copper shadow hue on as a shimmery bronzer, and finish with a rusty-bronze crème lippie. Aiming to give your mane Margot levels of oomph? Your blow dryer is your best friend. Dry all over, aiming at the roots to build volume at the crown, then add curls to the ends by rolling them under with a round brush and blasting them, first with hot air, then with cold to set. To build the bouffant (yep), section off the hair between your temples and brush back to create a slight lift at the top of your head, then secure with pins at the back.
