50 beautyheaven members were sent the new L’Oréal Paris Infallible Matte Foundation , which claims to offer full, matte coverage for 24 hours, as well as the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Priming Base.
The majority of members found the foundation went on smoothly and blended easily. A few did mention they had to work quickly to blend before the foundation ‘set’. Once applied, testers were pleased to find the foundation not only controlled excess oil and shine, but that it also left a matte finish that didn’t look too dull or flat. Many said one layer of foundation was sufficient to cover imperfections like pigmentation and redness, but some mentioned they required another layer or to spot-layer the foundation on problematic areas. Those who did need to layer the foundation said it didn’t become thick and caked on, and still looked natural. Testers also found the formula felt surprisingly lightweight for an oil-controlling foundation.
While testers did say the foundation worked well to control shine and sweat (some even naughtily put it to the test while exercising), some noted the oiliness crept back at around the five-hour mark – but this was still an improvement on most mattifying foundations they’d tried.
The members with dry patches found the foundation did enhance these areas, so it’s recommended those with dry skin (or dry patches) avoid this formulation.
Overall, testers were very pleased with the mattifying, oil-controlling results and the longevity of wear, and many mentioned that they found using the primer before the foundation improved the results.

“This foundation goes on smoothly and blends easily, giving you a full face of coverage in seconds. It provides a natural, flawless look instantly, removing shine and blemishes, but could easily be mistaken for your own skin!” – emlovescoffee

“The true test was to see if it would last an entire work shift without going oily or just sliding off. I used it with the primer and was not disappointed. I still had my matte complexion and the foundation was firmly in place. And another biggie for me – it didn’t block my pores or make me break out!” – elainebr18

“The L’Oréal Paris Infallible Matte Foundation is everything I’ve ever wanted in a foundation and it meets all my needs. It’s super lightweight and leaves a barely-there feel that I love, yet still performs as an ideal, fault-free, day-to-day foundation that provides generous coverage and longevity, while addressing excess oil concerns to eliminate the need for touch-ups and ongoing blotting throughout the day.” – Melmeko

“It wears well during the first few hours and even better when used with the Infallible Mattifying base, but by the fifth hour, my utterly oily nose started to shine… But it was nothing a blot of tissue won’t fix, and, by my standards, the foundation is very good because there is no product that really stops my nose from shining.” – Lilypilly

“This has to be the first foundation I have ever used on the market (and I have used 50+ foundations) that has kept my skin matte for nearly the entire day!!! It really is incredible because I have oily skin (especially around my t-zone area) and no foundation has ever lasted this long without getting shiny within 2-3 hours.” – Belle88
