How to wear a ruby lip colour

Last week we introduced you to our ‘colour of the week’ series, and today we’ve got a fresh dose of make-up inspiration in the form this week’s shade – the ravishing and sultry #304 Ruby Opera.

The L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Extraordinaire shade not only coats your lips in a gloriously vibrant red hue, but the combination of seven micro-oils in the formula will ensure that the colour sits comfortably on your lips and keeps them soft and nourished all day long.

Here are three different ways you can incorporate the shade into your make-up look:

LOOK #1: THE BOLD POUT

Start by applying L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Extraordinaire in Ruby Opera to your lips, ensuring that the colour looks bold and vibrant. Next, take to your waterlines with L’Oreal Colour Riche Le Kajal. It sounds too simple to be true, but lining both your top and bottom waterline is actually a really effective way to add definition to your eyes while maintaining the focus on your bold lip shade. Finish your eyes with lashings of mascara and you’ll have the perfect eye look to complement to your ruby red lips.

Tip: if you have small eyes apply black liner on your top waterline and white liner on your bottom waterline to ensure your eyes remain wide and bright.

LOOK #2: THE OMBRE LIP

Take your lip look to an entirely new level by giving it an ombre finish. Using a dark purple or oxblood lip liner, define your lips and gently fill in the corners (both top and bottom) with the liner. Next, apply L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Extraordinaire in Ruby Opera over to the rest of your lips, making sure to blend the colour with the lip liner. Viola, you’ve now got ombre lips!

Tip: micro-oils in the Colour Riche Extraordinaire formulation help to illuminate the pigment, so for an extra emphasised ombre look, pop a slightly lighter shade in the centre of your lips.

LOOK #3: THE SEXY SMOULDER

A glossy red lip looks excellent on it’s own, but if you want to take it up a notch at night time, team your sexy pout with a muted smoky eye for a subtle yet smouldering finish. The neutral tones will work wonderfully to amp up your beauty look without conflicting with your lip colour.

Tip: for a longer-lasting result, apply your lip colour in layers. Start with a light application, blot your lips on a tissue, then repeat.
