The Golden Globes kicked off the 2021 award season last night — and considering it’s usually held in January, Hollywood’s finest were more than ready to put on one hell of a fashion and beauty show.
There were many stand-outs, including Margot Robbie head-to-toe in Chanel (with a custom lip colour mixed by makeup artist Pati Dubroff) and we loved seeing Bridgerton‘s Nicola Coughlan rock a neon eye, too.
But one of our favourite parts of any award show is the backstage ‘getting ready’ intel shared by the glam squads behind each look. And there was one product in particular that piqued our interest, as it was used by not just one but two actresses.
Both Lily Collins and Amanda Seyfried are amabassadors for Lancôme, so it was no surprise that each was repping the brand. However, when it came to mascara we didn’t see the usual cult suspect, Lancôme® Hypnôse Mascara, on the list (surprising, considering it has a 4.5 star rating on bh).
Instead, the best-seller was replace by a newcomer: Lancôme Lash Idôle Volumising Mascara. It’s said to be all about the ‘fanned-out’ lash look, with a unique brush featuring 125 different bristle sizes to really provide that lifted eye-opening effect.
One thing is for sure, both women looked absolutely stunning. And they wouldn’t have been suffering panda-eye come midnight either; the formula has 24-hour wear.
If you’re already a huge fan of Hypnôse, you’ll be pleased to note this one comes in at $5 cheaper ($50 flat), so it might be worth a try next time.
Keen to know what other mascaras celebs were wearing on the red carpet? Kaley Cuoco went for Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk Push Up Mascara ($48, charlottetilbury.com/au), while Sarah Hyland used e.l.f cosmetics Lash It Loud Mascara (which retails for only $6 in the U.S. but is yet to be available in Aus).

Are you a fan of Lancôme’s mascaras? What’s your go to lash-lifter for special occassions?
Love Lancome but not in my budget atm.
Lancome is nice but pricey, I wouldn’t pay $50 for a mascara, I don’t wear it enough and it dries up, a cheaper option is the way to go for me.
Hard to imagine a better mascara than Hypnose, but I would be happy to try any new offering from Lancome.
Have used Hypnose. Good stuff. Love that purple-green eye look!
I love Sarah Hyland. Always so down to earth and her eyes always look amazing
Lily Collins is so beautiful.
I have used Hypnose mascara and I really loved it, but it’s too expensive and I wouldn’t buy it again. I really like the MAC tubing mascara in the blue tube. I can’t remember what it’s called. I just purchased one last weekend. I’ve repurchased it several times, and intend to continue to do so.
Lancome is a great brand but I’m happy to use my cheaper brand mascaras.
You’ve got me curious now Rose! I’m going have to have a look to see which one you’re talking about because I love tubing mascaras and I love MAC products.
I like that one of them wore a bargain basement mascara – and no one would have known the difference!
Amanda looks stunning in that dress
I am getting it!
I have the lowest success rate with mascaras recommended to me. Even tubing mascaras smudge on me (why?!?!) so I now only stick to a few that I know would work.
Lash Extend? Personally I’m not a fan – I didn’t know tubing mascara can smudge but Lash Extend did. 🙁
I haven’t used the Lancôme Hypnose but have heard of it for many years I must try it for myself.
Yes, Lash Extend. It’s always worked well for me.
They both look great
Not ready to pay a hefty price for mascara even though Lancome is a good brand.
Very pretty looks, but as I wear glasses, I tend not to pay too much attention to what mascara I use.
I love Lily’s purple & turquoise eyeshadow! I prefer cheaper mascaras. For a special event, I either apply more coats or wear fake lashes.
That mascara looks so good and affordable, I like the fact not everything they have is expensive, quality has to be on point.
Both stunning ladies
I haven’t tried Lancome’s mascara’s yet, I curl my lashes before applying mascara before a special night out.
They look stunning!
That sounds so cool Rose!
I’ve never really mastered that curling technique. I think I need step by step instructions!
2 of my favourite stars looking gorgeous
Fantastic eyes.
They both look gorgeous!
Stunning Women!!! Just Beautiful!!!
Loving Lily’s eyeshadow, so pretty!
Both are beautiful woman and I hope to one day use this mascara.
They both look lovely, were they at home doing their own makeup? Probably not. They may have been ‘forced’ to use the new Lancome mascara as part of their contract (the sort of ‘force’ I’d have no problem obeying!).
I no longer use mascara, my eyes react too much; luckily my eyelashes are dark enough
I used to use Lancome mascaras religiously, but now there’s so many others I want to try.
Both look beautiful
Love Lily Collins eye makekup
Those two are naturally beautiful, with or without mascara.
Last month I had an eyelash perm and tint, it worked a treat.
I think I need one of those!!
They both look lovely.
I have never tried Lancôme’s mascaras. They looks good.
From my experience one brand of mascara is just about the same as another.
I’ve tried mascara that was supposed to curl my lashes. It didn’t. I stick to Maybelline Big Lash. It has worked for me for years.
I have been using Lancôme Hypnose for more than 15 years now and it’s tried and true the best for volume and length, Asian lashes or not.
I too got excited with new mascaras on the market, but even when I had tried 10 drugstore ones and 2 high end ones recommended as HG by influencers and such (who were prolly sponsored by the brand), it was all a waste of time and money that I could’ve used to buy 2 Lancôme mascaras and spared myself of pain. Also the applicator never poked my eyes and made me cry, which is an issue when mascara is still wet.
Nothing else fans my lashes out, lengthens and volumises my lashes to look like falsies without clumping like the Lancôme mascaras. I don’t know why. It’s pricey but works everytime.
They didn’t wear Hypnôse as Lancome wanted to advertise a new mascara?
I am happy to stick with cheaper mascaras
Good to know
Very Hollywood glamour
I’d be willing to give the Lancôme Lash Idôle Volumising Mascara a go.
EDIT: I’ve reported the spam by theresawilliam.
I love a good mascara and I would love to try this one!
