If there’s one woman who needs to be efficient with her time, it’s Jennifer Lopez – which is why she’s mastered the impressive task of applying and blending both her moisturiser and contour all in the one step.
After sharing multiple beauty sessions bare-faced from her bathroom, we’ve become accustomed to seeing JLo go makeup-free (a real treat for the eyes). And this time, she’s back with a slightly unusual but albeit impressive technique for moisturising, contouring and highlighting all at the same time.
What is Jennifer Lopez’s contour hack?
Wearing nothing but a robe and a slicked back bun, JLo begun her Instagram video by applying a day cream around the perimeter of her face and along her cheekbones. This was followed by an eye cream underneath her eyes and along her brow bone. Without rubbing any of it in, she then takes a liquid bronzer to her face to sculpt, placing it in all the usual contouring spots: across her forehead and along her cheekbones.
To go alongside her white and brown dots, she then adds a bit of shimmer. Going in with a liquid highlighter, the Marry Me actress places a dot on all the high points of her face like the brow bone, forehead and Cupid’s bow.
To finish, she rubs it all in, seamlessly combining the three layers of product to finish with a sculpted, dewy and glowing complexion. Gorgeous.
Now, here’s the thing. If up until this point you’ve been applying and blending each step individually, we’re not saying you’ve been wasting your time. But, after seeing JLo’s technique, there’s a serious case for condensing it all into the one step.
As expected, JLo’s routine consisted solely of products from her own line: JLo Beauty. Unfortunately for us, her range isn’t readily available in Australia. At least not just yet, anyway.
The good news is, any moisturiser or primer (we love The KIND Collective Hydrating Primer With Hyaluronic Acid, $16.95 at The Kind Collective), eye cream, liquid bronzer and highlighter will work to bring this look to life.
What do you think about JLo’s moisturising and contouring technique? Would you like to give it a try?
If I used that amount of product my skin would breakout. I wouldn’t try this but the final result on JLo does look pretty good and doesn’t look heavy.
She is very lovely and looks good without make up even/
Don’t know if I would try it out
It might inspire me to try applying things differently but I think we all seem to get used to our own beauty application habits – does sound easy for her but a little fussy for me.
I agree. Sounds easy in theory but need to remember when smoothing creams in to “colour within the lines” or it defeats the purpose and a lot of the times when I’m applying face creams I’m on autopilot
It is definitely fun to watch.
I think she looks younger when she’s got no makeup on. I’m the opposite 😄
Don’t think I could be bothered to try this but it looks fun.
is there any sunscreen in this routine…
Good point.
Good for makeup wearers maybe and those who have a lot of time for this.
No, I can see myself making a mess of it using this technique.
I have never heard of Kind collective. Where can I buy it?
I’ve seen their products available from Priceline and Big W.
I often mix my products when I am in a hurry, i would not call it impressive lol
Me too, but I since learnt that you shouldn’t with sunscreen as you want to ensure that you are getting a full face coverage. So I always add that all over first.
Damn, she looks good.
I don’t have the patience for this. Luckily, I’m not JLo so no one cares if I do or not!
Wow she knows what she is doing with makeup!
Could be worth a try
It looks good on her but I’m not sure I could achieve such a seamless look.
I’m sure I’d just end up in a huge mess if I tried this lol
It is good but not sure it would work for me.
I should try this next time.
Thats a lot if product.. but she looks amazing
