This IKEA hidden gem is here to save you from your beauty storage rut

No matter how hard you try, keeping your bedroom or bathroom neat and tidy can be instantly undone by the scattering of a foundation brush here, and an eyeshadow palette there.

And while the walk-in wardrobe gets maximum airtime from fashion lovers, it seems that the attention on beauty storage is often overlooked.

So, if your home is missing a dedicated glam room but you have more gold liquid eyeliners than shoes (zero judgement), then it’s time to redirect your focus away from the bedroom closet and over to the bathroom vanity. Or in this case, the trolley.

In true IKEA fashion, the $49 three-tiered trolley, AKA the ‘Raskog’ is incredibly small-space friendly. Containing four wheels, the trolley is free to bounce between rooms as the search for perfect lighting has you going from mirror to mirror.

This stylish and compact solution will create order amongst the makeup chaos, while the open shelves allow for easy access. In other words, there’ll be no time wasted searching high and low for items, packing and unpacking smaller boxes kept stacked within draws. Because as we all know, the products you can see are the products you’ll actually use.

We suppose there is always the option to clean out your beauty collection and keep your products to an absolute minimum but before we make any irrational and potentially year-ruining decisions, we propose you give our alternative solution a try.

The only hard part you’ll face is selecting which of the four stunning colours you want to take home.

  1. Do not like it. But want to get one of those over-the-door mirror and cosmetics cupboard organizer. They look mad, take little space, and are so convenient for getting ready and storing everyday cosmetics and hair nig nags!

  2. Thankfully we have a ensuite with 2 sinks and lots of cupboard space. I have a similar thing in my shower though, (which is big too), for all the things my hubby and I use and the 4 bottles of conditioner I currently have open. . I don’t know what I will do if we move house! . This thing from Ikea would make a smaller bathroom look a bit tidier and more organised though.

  3. Not bad! Kmart have some pretty good makeup storage products too. I’ve taken over the spare room. My everyday stuff is in the bathroom but the rest of it is neatly stored in various containers, including Mecca boxes. The door is kept closed so my naughty cat can’t steal my stuff!

  4. I live alone, so I used to use the bathroom medicine cabinet, but now I’ve got too much to fit in there. I leave the everyday items in there & the overflow in my dressing table drawers. I’ve got a whole drawerful of lippies & another with eyeshadows.

  5. It’s a cute idea but don’t certain perfumes and makeup products expire quicker if left out in the light like that?
I’d prefer to leave mine in a dark drawer….plus my bathroom isn’t big enough for those cool trollies

  6. Can’t say I’m a fan of this trolley tbh. I prefer keeping my perfumes in a darker space (i.e. on a shelf inside my wardrobe) + I’m also not that keen on open shelving. Looks similar to something I’d see at my hairdressers.

  7. Mm, I have an acrylic makeup box and a drawer in my desk for overflow, plus some storage boxes for product backups, hair dye, and special occasion stuff. I try to keep my bathroom to every day needs because it’s small and steamy so it’s not the best storage place for most things. It’s ideal for plants though!

  8. I have one of these trolleys in my craft room filled with cardmaking/scrapbooking stuff!! I’m lucky I have plenty of cupboards in the bathroom, I use long clear containers to store my beauty products so everything is easy to reach.
