How-to: topaz smoke

As soon as this ah-mazing make-up look flashed across my computer screen, I couldn’t wait to share the how-to with you. After all, it’s hard enough to create a subtly smoky eye, let alone incorporate a pop of colour into it without looking like you’re off to a fancy dress party!

Tom Pecheux, Creative Makeup Director for Estée Lauder, created the gorgeous make-up look using the new Estée Lauder Pure Color Topaz Collection.

“My inspiration behind the collection was vacationing in Arizona, enjoying the warm sun, the amazing desert colors and the shadows that play on the sand and rocks. I was thinking of a gorgeously healthy-looking woman that had an element of fantasy in her personality. I wanted to convey that with a palette of strong yet soft colors,” he says.

Here’s how you can get the look at home:

1.) Apply Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée in Topaz Chameleon on your cheeks and blend up towards your temples to highlight your skin.

2.) Using the Pure Color Five Color EyeShadow Palette in Topaz Mosaic, apply shade #5 from your lash line up to the crease of your eye, before mixing shade #3 with shade #5 and sweeping it over your brow bone to accentuate it.

3.) Blend shade #4 into the crease of your eye, extending it out slightly to define and shape your eye.

4.) Using Pure Color Intense Kajal Eye Crayon in Dramatic Black, define your upper lash line. Next, line your waterline and your lower lash line with Pure Color Intense Kajal Eye Crayon in Dramatic Teal for a smouldering, eye-opening effect.

5.) Finish with a coat of Double Wear Zero-Smudge Volume Mascara in Black on your lashes, and a slick of Pure Color Sensuous Rouge LipColor on your lips to balance the dramatic eye look.

What do you think of this smoky eye with a pop of colour?
