If you’re a festival fiend, odds are you’ll want to know which make-up best matches your wellies and your wide-brimmed hat, won’t you? Whether you’re carting off to Coachella, or getting ready to go bonkers at Big Day Out, what you wear on your face is super important. Why you ask? Because firstly, the make-up look needs to last the whole day (festival bags aren’t equipped to carry your whole make-up kit after all) and secondly, it’s a chance to get a wee bit crazy by unleashing your creative streak.
I was lucky enough to be able to attend the uber exclusive Artist’s Compound at Parklife just a few weeks ago, courtesy of our friends at MAC. The legendary MAC Me Over bus (which looks a bit like a rock star’s tour bus and has just travelled the Eastern side of the country, making over those in rural areas) was parked on the grounds, ready to make over the artists, exclusive guests, and of course – little old me.
Upon boarding the giant bus I was instantly hit with bright colour. Orange lips, standout shadows, and coloured cheeks were all the rage on board, so it seemed fitting that I too be decked out with a sultry chocolate-y eye, black cat-eye flick and the brightest of orange lips ever (MAC Lipstick in Vegas Volt to be exact).
Here are my top tips for festival season make-up – with a little help from MAC.
- –Go bright. Your lips are the perfect canvas to display a little creativity – so go for it! Don’t forget to line your lips with a matching liner and fill them in first to ensure the colour lasts the distance.
- –Choose longwear.MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF15 will give you a youthful dewy look with medium coverage, without budging an inch throughout the day.
- –Flutter on. Normally reserved for nighttime fun, lashes are hot for daytime now too – especially for festivals. Don’t want to go the whole hog? Try some half lashes instead. We love MAC 20 Lash for one heck of a striking stare.
