If you haven’t guessed from my mysterious excerpt, the old box set I’ve been delving back into is Dawson’s Creek. You know, the show about the smart, witty kids who lived near the big creek and (practically all) fell in love with Katie Holmes’ character, Joey Potter? (Well, all except Michelle Williams’ character, Jen that is.)
Anyway, it’s not so much their witty quips and plethora of never-ending issues I’m interested in – it’s Joey Potter’s perfect doe eyes from which I just couldn’t tear my peepers away. Oh-so innocent and perfectly almond-shaped, I felt as though Bambi and Puss-in-Boots (when he pulls the ‘cute’ face) had meshed together to create Katie Holmes’ character’s eyes.So it got me to thinking, how could I pull off my very own doe-eyed look?
I came up with the following:
– Shape is the major player with this look. Be sure to highlight any natural shape you may have with a light pearl or gold shimmer shadow. Focus on the inner corner of your eyes to really accentuate the almond shape.
– Team this with a slick of white liner along your bottom lash line to make your eyes look wide-awake. For a more natural look, use a flesh coloured pinky pencil instead.
– Shadow can also be used to make things look bigger than they are. This can apply to smaller eyes too, so why not try using a light shadow on your mobile lid (the bit above your upper lash line), and then blending a bronze, or smoky shadow into the contour of your eyes. This will help create the illusion of depth.
– Lashings of mascara can often be too heavy and make your eyes look smaller and less doe-like. Ease up on the coats and watch your defined eye shape shine through instead.
What do you think of the doe-eyed look?
How cute is puss?!
a brown mascara can be nice too
