Helen Mirren never fails to disappoint on the red carpet. The 75-year-old actress manages to slay any look, whether it be a bold lip, smokey eyeliner or elegant updo. And with her blush floor length gown, coordinating headband and lightly flushed cheeks, the 2022 SAG Awards were no exception.
Though we can’t coach you on how to pick up a lifetime achievement award as Helen did on the night, we do believe we’ve got the next best thing: how to recreate her most stunning look to date.
Helen is an ambassador for L’Oréal and so it makes sense that she would use the products she’s an advocate for. Nevertheless, we still love to see what goes on behind the beauty scenes and one product that stole our attention was the foundation used for her glowing base.
“Using [the] AGE PERFECT Radiant Serum Foundation in ‘Golden Beige’, I placed it all over the face, neck and ears and buffed it into skin using a buffing brush to get a flawless, light and natural looking skin,” her makeup artist Jo Strettell shared to Instagram.
Jo kindly shared her concealer process, too. “Using the AGE PERFECT Radiant Concealer in ‘Sand Sable,’ I placed it liberally on the under eye area, around the nose and outside lip line to lighten and brighten the skin.
Serum foundations have been launching left, right and centre, but it seems the golden tube of goodness used for Helen’s base is yet to hit the Aussie shelves. It currently retails for $15.99 in the U.S., which would make it roughly $21 here in Australia — not bad for a base hybrid that contains vitamin B3 and promises all-day hydration with a radiant finish.
Here’s hoping it makes it here soon, as it sounds delightful! In the meantime, if you like the sound of skin care-infused foundations, check out Clinique’s Even Better Clinical Serum Foundation SPF20 ($66, Adore Beauty) and the Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Skincaring Foundation ($56, Myer).
To create her “shimmery yet smokey eye,” Jo used the L’Oreal Paris Brilliant Eyes Liquid Eyeshadow in the shade ‘Amethyst Quartz’.
The “beautiful cream plum lip” was created using the L’Oreal Paris AGE PERFECT Lip Liner in ‘Perfect Burgundy,’ paired with L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Satin Lipstick in the shade ‘Plum Explosion’.
Unfortunately for us, none of these are available in Australia yet. However, we do have some recommendations for the next best thing:
Natio Long Lasting Lip Liner in the shade Tulip, $14.95 at Myer
L’Oreal Color Riche Made For Me Intense Lipstick in the shade Intense Plum, $11 at Chemist Warehouse
Models Prefer Cream Eyeshadow, $15.99 at Priceline
