Whether she’s walking the red carpet at the Oscars or running down the runway at a L’Oréal Paris show, Helen Mirren always oozes style and grace.
There are so many moments the actress has looked amazing, from her rosy makeup at the SAG Awards to her punchy red lip at the premiere of Eye in the Sky and of course, the pink hair she rocked at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019.
But when Allure asked Helen herself what her favourite look of all time has been, the aforementioned were all trumped by a moment at the 2006 Venice Film Festival.
“”The night that The Queen screened at Venice was a very big moment because it was the moment that launched the film into the public arena,” she recalled to the publication. “And I had a really lovely, sort-of-silver sequined dress — and it was so not like my look as the Queen. I loved that look.”
Ok yep, wow. We get it now. The dress, the elegant wrap, the hair, the lip – all divine. She really is one for the ages.
The 76-year-old also shared the secret to her “swagger” and ability to pull off such breathtaking looks: comfort.
“Somehow, being comfortable in what you’re wearing gives you an ease and the relaxation that transforms your look,” she said. “You can have everything perfectly done, but if you’re self-conscious about things showing, or it doesn’t quite fit, you’re sort of stiff. Weirdly, comfort is very, very important.”
We couldn’t agree with you more, Helen. And right now, we’re feeling pretty damn beautiful in our hoodie and tracksuit pants.
What do you think of Helen’s favourite red carpet look?
76 and she can still bend down and touch her toes. What a woman. Put’s my lack of flexibility to shame.
Opps that supposed to puts. No edit anymore??
Beautiful
