2009 London Fashion Week shocked me with make-up looks that were, well, a little different from the usual made-up faces we’re used to seeing strutting their stuff and shimmying their… ahem, down the catwalk. It seemed that make-up artists were silencing their inner artist (who usually love a show-stopping make-up on their models) by opting for a nude complexion and muted lip.
Hold your shrieks whilst I explain how it was pulled off and try to rationalise the beauty look that must seem like a trip back in time for most of you. I should fess up now; yes, concealer was dabbed over the pout, (somewhat of a beauty sin) but not entirely. It’s important to ensure that some of the natural pinks from the lips were able to seep through the beige blanket.
I imagine that a little L’Oreal Paris Infallible Concealer was a weapon of choice. Now I know you may think I’m mad, being such a lip stick/stain/gloss fanatic, but I actually like this look. I think it’s a great way to accentuate your eye make-up without going totally bare on your pout. Now, under the concealer, I’d apply a dabbing of Revlon Matte lipstick in Really Red – this will allow you to still sport your favourite lip shade, but mute it down as little or as much as you’d like. Cool eh?How do you usually like to wear your lip colour?
That’s a nice everyday look
