Recently I was chosen as the bh staff road-tester for Xtreme Lashes professional eyelash extensions. I was super excited about the thought of eyelash extensions as my natural lashes are few and far between to say the least. I have tried every volumising mascara under the sun without any success.
So I traipsed off to Retreat Holistic Beauty in Paddington, Sydney for the two-hour process with Leah the Xtreme Lashes expert. Leah was great at explaining everything and picking a “lash look” that was natural and suited me. The whole application experience was so relaxing that I actually nodded off to sleep! When Leah gently woke me up from my slumber I was so pleased to see a nice new set of lashes that looked so natural and full. It was like magic!
Xtreme Lashes’ motto is ‘You have to be high maintenance to be low maintenance’ and when Leah explained the rules to me I was taken aback a little. The most difficult rule of all is you are not allowed to wet the lashes for the first 48 hours. However, once 48 hours passed and I could stop awkwardly dancing around my shower head to avoid wetting my lashes I found I adjusted well to my new facial addition. In fact, I often found myself examining them up close in a mirror because I couldn’t work out how they looked so real!
Another benefit is if you find the lashes getting a little thin again you can go get refills every three to four weeks to keep them looking like the first day you got them. However, I can assure you that they’re pretty long-lasting and only fall out gradually. I seemed to lose a lash at a time and only noticed when having a shower or towel drying my face. I think I lost my last few lashes sometime last week so all in all they stayed put for approximately two months.
I am a minimal make-up kind of person so the main thing I loved about my lashes was being able to leave the house wearing no make-up and getting comments about how great the lashes looked. Previously the only time people would notice my eyelashes was if I had applied four coats of mascara!
To enhance the look of my eyelash extensions I used the Xtreme Lashes mascara and eyeliner, which I am still using post-lashes as they were so good at achieving smooth lines and clump-free lashes.
I would definitely recommend getting Xtreme Lashes, especially if you have short and sparse ones naturally. Leah’s terrific handiwork is foolproof because unless I was loudly explaining my lashes were fake, no one would know.
