There’s nothing better than a good highlighter selfie that shows off the glow on your cheekbones, but one beauty Instagrammer has taken things to the next level. Her cheekbone glow is so bright that it actually causes the camera lens to flare, creating yet another major social media makeup trend – the flare highlight.

That’s right, the flare highlight technique is now going viral thanks to an anonymous Instagrammer who goes by @thestudyofmakeup.

As she told Allure, @thestudyofmakeup gets the look by using a specific brush. “Most people apply their highlight with a large fan brush,” she tells. “I use a very dense, wet eye shadow brush.” She says this helps to “condense the pigment and centralizes it” unlike a fan brush, which diffuses the color.

This way you can saturate the brush with more pigment and pinpoint exactly where you want to place it so that it can reflect the light better.
To demonstrate the difference, @thestudyofmakeup took shots of her flare highlight in comparison with more traditional highlighting techniques and the results are pretty breathtaking.
