When you apply your makeup at the beginning of the day, your face looks flawless. Fast forward to a few hours later and things can go downhill pretty quickly. Whether your complexion becomes an oil slick by 12pm or ends up as dry as the sahara desert, we could do with a quick touch-up throughout the day.

Here are five ways to freshen up makeup throughout the day.
Blot it away
If you have an oily complexion, the first thing you’ll want to do is use blotting papers to absorb any excess oil. Always carry blotting papers with you in your handbag and press them on your t-zone before adding any powder products.

Save face with a spritz
All skin types can benefit from a quick spritz of finishing spray. Before touching up the rest of your makeup, take a second to mist your skin to instantly wake up your complexion.

Add moisture
If your skin is particularly parched you can take a small amount of moisturiser mixed with a touch of liquid illuminator, then pat it in any areas that are dry and flakey. Only do this right after you’ve spritzed so your skin is slightly wet, otherwise the product will just sit on top of dry areas.

Choose cream products
Cream products will look fresher than powder, so add a cream blush for a bit of colour and a creamy highlighter on top of your cheekbones for extra sheen.

Makeup must-haves
Add a touch of concealer under the eyes, around your nose and around your mouth to hide any discolouration, then a final quick slick of mascara. If it’s after dark, apply a bright lip and you’ll look like you’ve just spent hours on your makeup.
