It’s funny how you spend the cooler months counting down the weeks until summer but when the heat finally hits you head on, I don’t know about you, but I crave the chilly freshness of scarf season.
Whether or not being seven months pregnant means I’m feeling the heat more I’m not so sure, nonetheless after months of waiting for a warmer climate it’s arrived – problem is I’m longing for lower temperatures.
I know, I’m never happy but it’s the same old story when it comes to fashion and beauty too: in the midst of winter I’d do anything to step out in a floaty summer frock and a pair of cool Havaianas but by the middle of summer I’m over the casual coolness of beach season and crave wrapping up warm in boots and woollies.
Now when it comes to make-up, I’m tired of minimal beach-ready beauty and yearn for a fabulously made-up face that’s unlikely to slide south due to a bout of the summer sweats.
Turn down the temperature and allow me to cover my body in a too-rich-for-summer body lotion like Nivea Cream, grace my face with a full-on foundation like Aveda Inner Light Dual Foundation (applied dry for a matte finish), get away with wearing dark eye shadow during the day (I’m thinking Elizabeth Arden Colour Intrigue Eyeshadow in Ember or Twilight) and slather my lips with intense colour (I love Prestige Cosmetics Classic Lipstick in Heartbreak – an orangy-red).
