Drew Barrymore is a woman who loves a beauty roundup and recommendation. It was her advice that got us through Valentine’s Day, her genius tip that helped us avoid ‘maskne’ and her own beauty brand, Flower Beauty, that continues to be a staple on our drugstore makeup shopping list. And now, she’s back with another list of suggestions: a beauty regimen for summer.
Considering we’re on the other side of the world and the weather is cooling down, some of these suggestions may have to wait for the warmer months. But, for those of us who just love a glimpse into an A-lister’s beauty bag (regardless of its seasonal relevance), we recommend you keep reading.
Without further ado, here are our top picks from Drew Barrymore’s “Little Yellow Book Summer Beauty Edition”.
Makeup recommendations…
Concealer: RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up
This lightweight, silky, award-winning concealer melts into the skin upon application. Formulated with coconut and jojoba oil, it offers skin-like coverage that tones down dark circles and discolouration, leaving behind a radiant complexion.
$54, MECCA
Kosas Wet Lip Oil Plumping Gloss
As far as lip gloss goes, this one is pricey. However, it’s not hard to see why the high-shine formula has found a fan in Drew. It plumps, hydrates and will provide long-lasting shine without feeling heavy, sticky or taking your hair hostage after a gust of wind. As a more affordable alternative, we love the Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Oil ($17.95, Adore Beauty).
$33, MECCA
ILIA C Beyond Triple Serum SPF 40
During the warmer months when you don’t require as much coverage, we suggest this 3-in-1 serum, SPF, and tinted moisturiser be worn alone. But for a wintery take, ILIA’s niacinamide and vitamin C-infused formula will sit beautifully underneath your foundation for an added brightening glow.
$101.19, Revolve
Skin care recommendations…
The Outset Gentle Micellar Antioxidant Cleanser
Drew’s preferred cleanser comes from Scarlett Johansson’s two-month-old clean skin care line, The Outset. Sadly, it isn’t available in Australia yet. We can, however, recommend a similar product: Alya Skin Foaming Micellar Cleanser ($16.99, Chemist Warehouse).
Check out The Outset’s full range, here.
Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream
Say hello to this little pot of hydration. Replenish moisture, smooth lines, brighten darkness and plump out wrinkles with Mario Badescu’s whipped eye cream.
$27, MECCA
GOOPGLOW Exfoliating Jelly Cream Cleanser
Adding to the celeb-on-celeb action, Drew loves GOOP’s Exfoliating Jelly Cream Cleanser (AKA a product from the wellness brand founded by the famous Gwyneth Paltrow). There is, however, more to this product than just Gwyneth. With this multipurpose cleanser, dirt is thoroughly removed and dull skin is left looking fresh and radiant.
$50, MECCA
Have you tried any of Drew’s recommended products? If not, which would you like to try?
I haven’t tried any of these products. Maybe I will sometime. Got enought product for the moment.
Spf tinted moisturizing serum, love all in one. As the only time I would wear makeupy base is when I don’t have to layer so many things.
good idea and so much quicker and cheaper than lots of products
I haven’t tried any of these products but they sound great
Haven’t tried any of these but have heard or read about them. A really good recommended list.
I haven’t tried Drew’s range but am always keen on trying new exfoliants, masks etc
I haven’t tried any of these products before. Interested in the Mario Badescu eye cream.
I haven’t tried any of these products, I like that there’s some affordable options listed as well.
I havent heard of these before
Lots of new products. The plumping lip gloss looks really nice.
Yes that would be lovely too
Loved reading this article and yes, this ILIA C Beyond Triple Serum SPF 40 is right up my ally and I’d love to try that one.
I have never tried any of these but would love to try Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream
Got to just love Drew.
and I love a good tinted moisturizer, especially for summer days.
I’ve heard of some of the products on the list but haven’t tried any of them.
Some interesting products there to suss out. That miracle bar is intriguing.
Haven’t tried any of these products mentioned by Drew Barrymore, some are quite expensive and others reasonably priced.
All new products to me. They look good but as usual I’ll wait for reviews.
I’m not into celeb products or recommendations but I do like Drew – it’s hard not to. She’s grounded and down to earth and her suggestions are budget friendly
My week is not complete without a comment waiting for moderation on BH, LoL
I wonder why that happens.
We would all like to know what’s going on with all the comments for moderation and the “rules” but I doubt we will find out
I haven’t tried any, but id really like to try Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream
Only heard of Mario Badescu and Kosas brands
I haven’t tried any of the mentioned products but I’m always ready to try a new eye cream.
Love Drew’s Flower range, especially the lipsticks – great value and lovely colours.
I have yet to try and I really want to.
No I haven’t tried these, they look good though
Haven’t tried any of them yet
I know the whole “taking your hair hostage after a gust of wind” drama with lip gloss, haha!
I’d love to try the concealer. My go to concealer of many years from Estée Lauder was discontinued a couple of years ago.
I’ve had the Kosas Wet Oil Lip Gloss thingy tried on me whilst I did a makeup demo in Mecca & I didn’t mind it. That said if I want colour on my lips I’m more inclined to wear a lipstick, so I don’t think I’ll end up buying one of their glosses. It’s a good option though (although I can’t say it really plumped up my already full-ish lips, so take the plumping claims with a grain of salt).
I really find it hard to take anything from GOOP seriously, because there’s been too much ridiculous stuff.
All gorgeous products that I would love to try.
I’ve only heard of one of these brands before – Mario Badescu and have never tried any of these products
I haven’t tried any of these.
I can see lots of serum being in foundations now.
I haven’t heard of those brands.
The RMS concealer sounds like something I need
to be honest these all sound lovely
The Outset Gentle Micellar Antioxidant Cleanser looks good
Love Drew but not interested tying any of these products
I have not tried any of them.
I love Drew. I wouldn’t buy any Goop products though.
Have not tried a single product here but will be keeping an eye out for them now – especially the ILIA serum SPF. Always after a good SPF to layer under makeup.
I’ve always wanted to use RMS Beauty products. Due to the organic nature, I wonder if they ‘go off’ faster.
I love the Kosas lip gloss.
I haven’t tried any of these.
