Anyone with an animated expression knows the struggle of those pesky forehead wrinkles. Forehead wrinkles can form as early as our 20s or 30s, and an expressive face paired with sun damage and a gradual breakdown in collagen can make them appear even more prominent.
Obviously, forehead wrinkles are nothing to be ashamed of. If you can, we recommend wearing them with pride. However, for some, they can become a point of insecurity. And if it’s going to impact your confidence, we’re here to help you find a solution.
How can we prevent forehead wrinkles from forming?
One of the most effective preventative measures is making sure we’re disciplined with our SPF. However, as we enjoy the privilege of getting older, wrinkles are inevitable.
If we want to disguise our existing creases without turning to Botox, Sarah Lucero, global executive director of creative artistry for Stila Cosmetics shares an instant, needle-free technique to airbrush with nothing but makeup.
Tips for disguising forehead wrinkles with makeup…
#1 Avoid heavy makeup
Talking to Good Housekeeping, Sarah says you must “avoid foundation that’s too thick or luminous, which can enhance forehead lines.”
As for the application, “dab a clean, damp makeup sponge over your base to make the pigment melt into your skin for a blurred effect and to ensure that no excess product is sitting on top, emphasising texture,” she instructs.
#2 Mattify
To further fill in those lines, Sarah also recommends taking a clear mattifying primer like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Priming Base ($31.99, Adore Beauty) and pressing over the wrinkled area with your fingertips.
#3 Blush it up
It’s important to play up our best features instead of just concealing those we aren’t as happy with too, so if you’d like to distract as well as disguise, Sarah suggests “a warm coral or peach cream blush blended on the apples of your cheeks and over cheekbones [to perk] up skin so your features look balanced”.

Do you have forehead wrinkles? Will you try this technique?
Forehead wrinkles are funny things – they seem to come and go at their own will. I remember finding that I had some in my teens and totally freaked out because I had ‘wrinkles’ – then they seemed to disappear somewhere!
I actually don’t have too many for my age, thick makeup settles into all lines and wrinkles.
Some great Tips Thankfully I don’t have hardly any forehead wrinkles to hide.
Good tips. My “11” lines between my eyebrows drive me crazy.
Thankfully no forehead wrinkles yet
None, 40s. Just do not know how to frown and can not get surprised by anything really. So forehead does not move much. Only working on prevention of eye lines, as I do laugh/smile a lot! Massages, skincare , good food.
I am quite lucky that I don’t have lines over my forehead as yet
I do have some on my forehead but no where else really. Luckily my fringe hides them!
Wow this is useful
I dont have too many forehead wrinkles but they are nicely covered by my fringe along with my thin sad eyebrows !!!
I don’t have a very animated forehead, so no wrinkles up there. I’m more verbal than facially expressive. My fringe would cover them if I had them.
Great tips, now I need some tips for the lines around my eyes!
Good tips!!
Im very lucky that I dont have any forehead wrinkles. Even if I try to make them appear it doesnt happen. I can pull faces but my forehead is wrinkle free. My Mum passed away aged 77 and didnt have a single wrinkle on her face.
Interesting article
Due to extreme stress years ago, I got my forehead and 11 lines earlier than I imagined. I didn’t realise at the tome that constant frowning could make me permanently look angry! Will have to try these tips as it’s the thing that bothers me the most.
I’m fortunate that I don’t have forehead wrinkles.
Forehead wrinkles are there if I show surprise, but other than that they are not so bad. Much more wrinkles elsewhere.
Good to know!
Great advice as being older, have a few creases across the forehead. Now to practice.
Good tips but I need to see some B & A pics of the results. I find it hard to imagine the results from the article.
Thankfully I don’t have too many. Let’s hope it stays that way.
I’ll try anything to hide these lines (just not Botox).
Great tips…
Thankfully no forehead wrinkles yet, lets hope it stays that way!
Just think of them of them as character lines!
This is where my fringe comes in handy! Sounds like a great technique though!
Good tips, thank you 🙂
No wrinkles yet but I’m open to botox in the future.
This technique is a bit vague sounding really.
No , they are not there yet 🙂
Getting to this age.
Fortunately I don’t have any forehead wrinkles, but if I did my fringe would hide them.
Another nice reason for a fringe
I had some visible lines on my forehead in my 30’s and they went away. Think it was a combination of hydration and exfoliating. I have some visible 11’s from squinting/frowning hehe. I find the more makeup I wear the more it exacerbates the lines. I add oils and moisturiser to most tints I use whether it’s BB or mineral powder.
I have quite an expressive face so do have some forehead line. I will need to give these tips a go.
Not yet.But useful tips.
Pretty happy to have forehead wrinkles – an expressive face can be beautiful – not sure I’d want to cover them.
Also helps to keep skin hydrated and moisturised to prevent wrinkles setting in
Forehead wrinkles are not an issue for me, but some helpful tips nonetheless.
Great tips
Great tips, all else fails.. a fringe won’t be too far away for me!
Yes, I do have forehead wrinkles but they are not as deep as the wrinkles on my lower cheek caused by me smiling a lot and having dimples.
For the wrinkles on my forehead, I use a “blur” product but for the deeper wrinkles on my lower cheek “blur” products don’t work to reduce the appearance of them. I’ll try the technique mentioned above in this article for my forehead wrinkles the next time I wear makeup to see how I go :).
I’ve tried everything – the only thing that works is a fringe or botox
Truly helpful hints here
Definitely will be trying this. I hate finding my forehead lines prominent after using certain types of foundation.
Luminous foundations accentuate wrinkles and larger pores on my cheeks.
i find i get the wrinkles on my forehead when ever i apply my mascara, Botox is out of the question. good article, always searching for a solution to this problem.
Ouch, that’s one to steer clear of.
Advantage to having a fringe 🙂
