Poolside perfection: that’s what we’ll all be channelling come spring and summer if the David Jones Spring/Summer Fashion Launch is anything to go by.
Transporting us all to the Italian Riviera for the evening, the likes of Jessica Gomes, Montana Cox and Samantha Harris took to the runway last night at David Jones flagship Elizabeth Street store as the department store giant showcased its upcoming fashion collections.
And although we are slightly intrigued about the threads we’ll be sporting this upcoming sunny season, it’s the hair and make-up we’re keen to discuss with you. So, consider this your backstage pass to all thing beauty, as we delve into the looks created especially for this runway event.

The make-up
Elegant, chic, poolside glamour was the inspiration for the two make-up looks created by shu uemura International Artistic Director, Mr.Kakuyasu Uchiide. Both looks included fresh, glowing, bronzed skin and defined eyes – perfect for stylish summer days by the pool. Look One included a double winged eye – one sweep of black and one sweep of gold – a sheer, glowy cheek and a matte nude lip. And Look Two? It was all about curved false lashes, bronzed skin and glossy lips. To help achieve these flawless looks at home, Kakuyasu suggests looking after your skin – a healthy, glowy make-up base starts with a solid skin care routine, he says.
Key products used: shu uemura Painting Liner in Gold and Black (Look One), and shu uemura Slant Black False Eyelashes and shu uemura Gloss Unlimited in BR10S (Look Two).

The hair
The 60s may have inspired the ‘dos for the David Jones Fashion Launch, but the two key looks couldn’t have been more different: sexy, bouncy waves verses structured French rolls. Both, however, emulate that Italian Riviera feeling of classiness, richness, and elegance to a tee. For those wanting to recreate the more stylised of the two ‘dos at home – the French roll – the Aveda team suggest getting your hands on a small crimper. That way, you can create volume close to the roots, essentially giving your ‘do more guts, texture and height.
Key product used:Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam.
What do you think of the hair and make-up looks from the David Jones Spring/Summer 13/14 Fashion Launch? Would you recreate any of the looks? And are you excited that spring is only a month away?
